29th Aug 1958, Born on this day, Michael Jackson, singer, songwriter, The Jackson Five, The Jacksons, and solo. Jackson is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records. The music videos for 'Beat It', 'Billie Jean', and 'Thriller', are credited with breaking down racial barriers and transforming the medium into an art form and promotional tool. His 1982 album Thriller is the best-selling album of all time. Jackson died on 25th June 2009 at the age of 50, after suffering heart failure at his home in Beverly Hills. Prior to his death, Jackson had been scheduled to perform 50 sold-out concerts to over one million people, at London's O2 arena, from July 13, 2009 to March 6, 2010. Honestly the greatest pop star 1980s onward. Such a shame that he died. Now I suspect that he may not have, based on all of the stress and the controversy surrounding him. Anybody have tickets to his "This Is It" gigs?

          7/15/11- Yankee Stadium
          6/8/13- Barclays Center
          7/5/14- Times Union Center
          8/7/16- MetLife Stadium
          9/15/17- Madison Square Garden

          Thank you Paul!

What I mean by me thinking that he may be alive, maybe he wanted to escape all of the press and controversy that was laid upon is name. Maybe he just wanted to live undisturbed.

It's very sad about Paris, but it should not be discussed in a public forum. It's a very private matter.

That doesn't make it right to discuss it, and the family asked for privacy. Their wishes should be respected.

no one was even discussing it...someone just reported it. Probably not that much interest here. But it totally was on the news & is news. So it is something to think about. Poor kid she's only 15.

Really?! Maybe the Estate will have to sell ATV and The Beatles catalog after all.

Michael Jackson for me is the Quincy Jones produced trilogy of "Off the Wall", "Thriller" and "Bad". Jones came from jazz and managed to get the music on the same level as Jackson as a singer and artist. It was something more than song and dance numbers, it became music you might as well sit down and listen to. In this, there is also the classic collaboration with McCartney.
