Daily Mail British paper claims Macca and Phil Collins have had a "secret feud" for 14 years. To be honest, there are only a few Collins songs I really like.

^^ Did not know what you were referring to but I just read the article. Wow. Well I would hope Paul didn't act like he was better than Phil. I mean both of them are human beings and it says Phil was such a big admirer and just asked for an autograph. I would be mad if he spoke like that to me too. Maybe they will make up over it, or not. I loved Phil in Genesis, and his solo career as well.

The Daily Mail article. http://www.thespec.com/whatson-story/6913754-phil-collins-blasts-sir-paul-mccartney/ "He said: "I've got to preface this by saying McCartney was one of my heroes. But he has this thing when he's talking to you, where he makes you feel ...[putting on a condescending Scouse accent] 'I know this must be hard for you, because I'm a Beatle. I'm Paul McCartney and it must be very hard for you to actually be holding a conversation with me.'" Phil admitted he has "never forgot" the way he was treated by Sir Paul at Buckingham Palace. He explained to the Sunday Times newspaper: "I met him when I was working at the Buckingham Palace party at the palace thing back in 2002. "McCartney came up with Heather Mills and I had a first edition of The Beatles by Hunter Davies and I said, 'Hey Paul, do you mind signing this for me?' And he said, 'Oh Heather, our little Phil's a bit of a Beatles fan.' And I thought, 'You f***, you f***.' Never forgot it."

I thought he retired because he couldn't play drums anymore. Something about his back.

True, but he had major back surgery last year to fix that. And I saw an interview where he said his doctors told him he would probably be able to drum again. If not, he can still sing. I did see him live years ago and he did not spend the entire show on the drum kit; he came out front quite a bit to sing. Shame he still holds a grudge against Paul after all this time.
-
I can understand Paul not wanting to sign an autograph since people ask him so many times and he probably gets tired of it but no need to call him Little Phil.
-
Do you think Paul was just pulling his leg and Phil took it wrong? I'm glad Phil is going to be playing again! The miracles of modern medicine!! Will definitely go to see him!
-
I'd love to see him play drums in person. He used to be a great drummer.

Turns out the "feud" was one-sided, and bogus, and used to get more attention for Collins' new book and tour. Maybe Paul sounded like a bit of a toff when he made that rather innocuous off-handed remark to Collins. Feeling his super star oats a bit, in that ultra posh setting of Buckingham Palace to perform for the Queen, You can't blame him. Probably reminded Macca he's a "Sir" too. And face it, he IS a huge star compared to Phil Collins, especially. I'd actually dig it if Paul comes across sort of haughty at times. Veddy British, you know. What I'm trying to get across is--Paul didn't really say anything shattering to Collins, who over-reacted. Everybody knows what it was about, now.
