Well, that's definitely not true. The Beatles performed AHDN several times in America in '64 and '65.

Well, that's definitely not true. The Beatles performed AHDN several times in America in '64 and '65.
I think the imposition here is that McCartney has never played 'AHDN' live as a solo artist rather than not performing it "ever" before.

Oh, you mean the albums he's been losing money on? Recordings don't make money, especially now, but tours do. When you buy a recording, you get that recording. That's the exchange of goods, and Paul has plenty of niche and non-niche recordings to satisfy the most hardcore of collectors. You don't get the recording PLUS the right to dictate his career because your overestimate your own importance. You realize you're seriously suggesting that Paul should please the hardcore collectors who buy ALL his recordings with a live show, while the people paying FOR the live show should, what? Just get out? Or as Bob Dylan once said, "Just because you buy my music doesn't mean I owe you anything." Again, it's the entitled attitude that I can't stand. There's no competition that makes you the best fan. Paul is never going to be the underground indie artist that you seem to want.
Wow, you are kidding me right. First, artists have signed recording contracts with companies over the years so they are not losing money on albums/CD's. Yes, they make more money touring, never said touring was not more profitable in today's world. So if you think Mr. McCartney does not make money on new recordings and he should rarely play them in concert, why bother recording new songs - lol. Second, I have never said he should not play the hits. I guess you did not read what I have posted previously. Myself and others have just asked that he may do 5-6 solo songs he has never played before in the show out of approx. 36 songs he performs every night. That leaves almost 30 Beatles/Wings songs which is more than most any other performer plays in entire night. Think about it, I am hoping for about 20 minutes of different music that I would like to hear out of a 2 1/2 hour concert. Third, I never said I had the right to dictate his career. I am just expressing my opinion as a fan. Excuse me for wanting to hear more songs past 1980 - lol. I understand people seeing Mr. McCartney for the first or second time want to hear the songs they loved from the 60's and 70's. I just think a brilliant artist like Mr. McCartney should do more than 2-3 songs in a concert that are not 35 or more years old. Fourth, playing a solo song like "Take It Away" (never performed live) which was a top 10 single (US) is not being an Indie artist. "My Brave Face" (not played live since 1990) charted at #25 in the US as a single, so it is not like the song is totally obscure either. With a straight face, tell me that first time people are clamoring to hear the Beatle song "In Spite of Danger". Try asking a person attending a McCartney concert the 15 top songs they want to hear that night and let me know if anyone says "For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite". My point is that do you really think the world would end in a concert if these two songs were replaced by solo songs. Finally, I am glad people seeing Mr. McCartney are loving his current concerts. I have seen him 7 times (starting in 1976) and have many great memories. I am just expressing my opinion that the current setlist is not something I want to pay over $100 a ticket to see. I also agree with others that if you are going to give a tour a new name then the setlist should be changed more than it was the first night.

I'm short on time right now so I will have more to say about the setlist later and after I see what happens at Portland's show tonight. Unfortunately, after the opening show, it seems like Paul continues to act as thought his career after 1982 doesn't exist. That's a shame because there are so many great songs that don't see the light of day by Paul or radio. As Yankeefan says... If Paul just devoted 6 Solo songs (that have never or rarely been played live) to each new tour it would do wonders to his legacy. His career is far more than strictly being one of the Beatles or putting together Wings. Unfortunately, his live shows almost totally gives one that impression.

Anyways...MY synopsis....soundcheck hospitality was great. Yummy appetizers. This was my 1st soundcheck...there were a LOT of people. Once inside the venue, Shelly gave us the instructions, like act ethusiastic (duh!), no videos, etc. Soundcheck sounded great, loved the choice of songs. Ushered back in for dinner, it was DELICIOUS, vegetarian lasagna, stuffed mushrooms, Quinoa, salads, all good. Giveaways were a cooler bag, small blanket, small poster and commemorative "ticket" but NO program/tour book.
For 2 grand I would expect them to feed me sushi from Jennifer Lawrence's naked body.

The sound check was pretty dismal from a first timer perspective. I'm trying to console myself by being happy about getting amazing seats. I couldn't eat or drink anything because I was ill but I'm pretty sure even if I could I'd still be a little sad. We were so far away. I was all alone with my kind of ramshackle sign and didn't stand a chance. I guess I have to keep hope that I'll be able to afford a "next time".

That is a lot of money IMO but to each their own. For that kind of money, you would think they would let you get closer for the soundcheck.
