The Kooks

I've just bought The Kooks' third studio album "Junk of the Heart" and I am VERY disappointed! I loved their first album Inside In/Inside Out when it was released and I can still listen to it almost 6 years later. Ever single song on that album is a knockout in my opinion (Rolling Stone gave that album 2 stars and it went on to sell 2 million copies - reinforces how clueless they are!) The tunes are catchy, the choruses instantly hook and I have great memories of summer '06 assosciated with the album. Their next album Konk split the critics a little but whilst it wasn't as consistent as Inside In/Inside Out, I still loved it. The songs were still great, the tunes still catchy and it was The Kooks continuing to do what they do best. Junk of the Heart in contrast is bland and contrived. The melodies are forgettable, the choruses have no hooks and pretty much everything that made the first albums great is gone. I can't beliebe this album was three years in the making, majorly majorly disappointed in this!

I liked the singles released off the first album in 2006. Trivia: the album Konk was recorded at Konk Studios which is famous for being owned and set up by The Kinks.
