Breaking news: Monkees Lead Singer Davy Jones is dead at age 66. OMG. Actually I had thought Mickey Dolenz was lead singer. He certainly sang a lot of their hits, more than Davy, but I guess not? The Monkees seemed to take over for the Beatles for mass teenybopper hysteria and fan worship displays, when the Fabs stopped touring to concentrate on recording. The Beatles seem to have been glad to pass on that torch. News Flash: Jones died of a heart attack early this morning. His last performance was on Feb.20.

This is so sad & such a shock. I saw Davey perform at Epcot in Disneyworld in 2009. He was brilliant & such a nice guy as well. RIP Davey & thank you

I know Peter Tork had been battling Cancer so when I heard one of the Monkees had died....he came to mind first. So sad....RIP Davy Jones....loved him.
