Jeff Lynne's New Albums
-
I figure there have got to be some Jeff fans here, right?
For those who don?t know, Jeff has 2 new recordings coming out soon, his first since the ELO album Zoom in 2001! One of these projects, Long Wave, is similar to Kisses on the Bottom, in that it?s a covers album of songs Jeff loved growing up. The other project is a rerecording of ELO?s greatest hits, on which Jeff played all the instruments. You can read all about these releases here: http://www.elo.biz/news

ELO are fantastic and Jeff knows his music stuff indeed. Glad to see he has some projects going.

Jeff Lynne really knows how to make somebody else's song his own. If I remember correctly, in '90 or so, he did a cover of the '60s track "Don't Let Go" -- and basically re-invented the song. Great job.

Why this man is not in the rock and roll hall of fame is beyond me. A brilliant musician, composer, arranger, producer, friend and inspiration to many musicians and people we know and love. His vocal ability is not talked about alot but he was close to the best singer the Wilburys ever had

Lynne isn't in the R&R:HOF? Shame. Here's the track list from 'Long Wave' She If I Loved You So Sad Mercy, Mercy Running Scared Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered Smile At Last Love is a Many Splendored Thing Let it Rock Beyond the Sea (Bonus Track)

Don't get me started on the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

Audi, you?re right. Don?t Let Go was released in 1990. Believe it or not, Long Wave is Jeff?s first official solo album since that time! One area where McCartney and Lynne differ is that Paul can easily be booked on any national TV show anytime he has a new release, whereas Jeff only gets a slight amount of press. As a lifelong fan of both artists, I?m trying to start a grass roots campaign to get Jeff an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to promote Long Wave! We still need many more Jeff/ELO fans to visit our page and click ?Like?! Here?s the URL. If any of you who are facebook users would be kind enough to go there and click "Like", all Jeff's fans would truly appreciate it!

Oh, and if you want to hear Jeff?s version of At Last from Long Wave, here is the link to that. He did a wonderful job! As presstoplay85 commented, Jeff's voice sounds in top form!
He's still got his chops. And some of the notes he chose to sing, I didn't see coming. He put his stamp on the song more subtly than usual, staying true to the original arrangement. It's definitely got me curious about the rest of the album. And I would expect Conan O'Brien to jump at the chance to have him him on the show faster than Fallon. Good luck!

Long Wave has a haunting rendition of the former Wilbury....Roy on "Running Scared". Inserts show upcoming remasters of two albums in which George Harrison himself plays: "Armchair Theater" where Harrison plays an exquisite slide to "Stormy weather" and "September Song" as well as "Zoom" which Harrison plays on "Long Time Gone. And yes, Jeff sounds great.

I love Jeff, but 11 years since Zoom and we have these two albums, it's a shame and pointless.
