Sounds like they've called it quits...anyway, I'm not exactly their number one fan, but enjoyed a lot of their work and some of their songs take me right back to my youth

Definitely one of the great 70's bands and beyond. With Live at the Fillmore East one of the all time great live albums, along with their classics Eat A Peach and Brothers and Sisters.

Gregg Allman's singing is awesome They were no slouches at guitar playing. A lot of their music is too tiresomely repetitious in that monotonous blues style (sometimes I like it though) with overly long jams. I love some of theirs. They've got a profoundly Southern sound. "Oh by the way I'm goin' to Rome," Gregg sings, and he doesn't mean in Italy. "Sometimes I feel like I'm tied to the whippin' post" very universally applicable sentiments.

I love the Allman Brothers Band. Have friends who know them and hung out with them before they were famous, a LONG time ago. They are a great band to see in concert. I have seen some of the members a few times at a song writing festival we have every year down this way. Gregg Allman is the Midnight Rider.

"No, I'm No Angel" One of my favorites! Inspired when Gregg was with Cher!

I was quoting a line from the song...and you posted the title. I was going to make a longer quote...but, was afraid I'd wind up quoting all of the lyrics instead. So, here they are... No I`m no angel No I`m no stranger to the street I`ve got my label So I won`t crumble at your feet And I know baby So I`ve got scars upon my cheek And I`m half crazy Come on and love me baby So you find me hard to handle Well, I`m easier to hold So you like my spurs that jingle And I never leave you cold So I might steal your diamonds I`ll bring you back some gold I`m no angel. No I`m no angel No I`m no stranger to the dark Let me rock your cradle Let me start a fire with your spark Oh come on baby Come and let me show you my tattoo Let me drive you crazy Come on and love me baby So you don`t give a darn about me I never treat you bad I won`t ever lift a hand to hurt you and I`ll always leave you glad So I might steal your diamonds I`ll bring you back some gold I`m no angel. No I`m no angel No I`m no stranger to the dark Let me rock your cradle Let me start a fire in your heart Oh come on baby Come and let me show you my tattoo Let me drive you crazy Come on and love me baby Well come on baby. Drive me crazy. Drive me crazy. Come on baby. Come on baby. Oh come on baby.

Saw them twice at the Mississippi River Festival: Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, in 1979-80. Lots of big names played there from 69-81. Eagles, The Who, Chicago, Janis Joplin, The Band (with a surprise appearance by Bob Dylan, post-motorcycle accident), Stephen Stills, Marshall Tucker. Hank Williams Jr. was the opening act in 1980.

How's it going all? I'm a big ALLMAN BROTHERS fan! I love their first self-titled debut album THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND and the EAT A PEACH album. I've been listening to both of these albums by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL), the sound quality is INCREDIBLE! Check out the MFSL versions if you ever get a chance, you won't be disappointed.
