I was never a great Donna Summer fan but it's always very sad to hear of a singer passing away that isn't Cliff Richard.!

I really liked Donna Summer's music when i was a teenager . She got the Queen of Disco label , which kind of hid the fact she was a major pionner in "Electronic Music " the work she produced with Giorgio Moroder & Pete Bell0tte from 1974 to 1980 on the eight studio albums they worked together on is a million miles away from the pop shite in the charts today . In 1977 David Bowie rushed into the studio where he was recording "Low" and said to Brian Eno that he'd just heard the future . Bowie played Eno " I Feel Love" a song that revolutionized dance music . I remember when i first heard that song in 1977 , i had to sit down , it hit me like a train , that synth baseline and her sexual voice literally took me off my feet There are very few monster songs like "I Feel Love" that change music , but that song did . Every dance/pop song since can trace it'self back to that electro beat and voice . Along with Krafwerk , Bowie/Eno's Berlin Triology i would sight Donna Summer , Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellote as major artists in the European electronic sound of the late 70's . Although she was American she had the sense to make her sound Euro/dance and not the cheesy disco sound that was coming out of America . I hope her work is re-evaluated in the future and she is given more credit as a great singer/songwriter of brilliant electronic dance music . R.I.P. Donna Summer - An Original Artist .
