The problem with waiting until the last minute is that some people have purchased plane tickets. I was only days away from buying non-refundable tickets to Fargo for the July 12 show. Now I'm afraid to do it. I feel bad for the people who lose hundreds of dollars because of this.
-
No surprise whatsoever frankly, but better he be a 100% fully fit than go back half baked. A wise move and i think it shows how poorly he's been.

Presumably the show in any particular city is for the people of that city. It is always a chance you take when you decide to travel. When I've decided to do that I usually made sure it was a place I'd want to go regardless of whether I went to the concert or not. This way you don't lose as much. There is always the chance that anyone can get sick at anytime. Not just the artist. It's a risk you should only take if you can afford it and if you can afford to make the best of it.

I agree. Or maybe they can't even make the rescheduled Oct dates.

Wow. Bad news to top off an already bad day. I'm trying to look at the bright side of this. I'm glad he is better. I'm glad he is taking the extra time to rest. He will be more energetic at the new dates. There's a possibility if he went on with the original dates that he would be weak and not perform as well. However...the Atlanta date has now been moved to a week day...as opposed to the original day of a Saturday. I'm not sure I will be able to get off work for two days during the week. I will do everything I can. But if someone else is already off, there's no way I can. Not to mention...this will be 2 vacation days being used instead of using the weekend for this trip. It just stinks. I'm glad he's okay though. That's the main thing. I needed this trip though. I was so excited and have been counting down the days.

I kind of had a feeling this was going to happen. I mean he was recovering from an illness that was only like 2 and a half weeks ago. His shows were supposed to begin on Saturday, but that wouldn't have been likely cause it was rushing into him getting better. I mean it takes some time for someone to recover, but that's just the recovery process. That's not talking about the time Paul needed to rehearse any surprises that he is going to do in the U.S. leg., or just rehearsing in general after being sick. It was too rushed to have to start again after not rehearsing some more and recovering. Paul is fine and is getting better everyday. I honestly think the shows are set to begin in July for Paul to completely stay on the safe side and fully recover, but also to rehearse! I know there are special surprises for the U.S. gigs and I don't think they were ready. This give them plenty of time, much needed time, to rehearse and make sure the show is the best, instead of half ass. In July he'll be ready to rock America! And he wants to make sure it rocks, and that's going to take a few more weeks to perfect it!!
-
You're very right. Paul wouldn't want to give us anything other than perfection. ) I just am gonna have a hard time waiting 4 more months when I only had 12 days to go. Bahhhhhhhh. (
-
I think a lot of people had an inkling this may happen...honestly I was hesitant about booking plane and hotel for San Fran until I was feeling more confident things were going ahead...may wait until the July shows happen before booking Get Well Paul!!!!

Predictable indeed...what's this "surprises" business, has this been hinted at officially? I wonder if it's not time for him to cut down on his shows too, 2 or 2.5 hours would be fine and would likely stress his system a bit less.

That is an interesting comment...We just saw Billy Joel at the Hollywood Bowl and he played spot on 2 hours...we commented after the concert which songs he didn't play , but maybe he knows to keep it to 2 hours....

Little bit bummed that the show I was taking my kids to won't be on a saturday night now - and is now some ways off. But mostly, i'm glad to hear that McCartney is getting better and looks like will be able to resume full activity soon enough. I've been battling a virus for 2 1/2 weeks and I certainly could not do 3 hours of strenuous activity right now. Keep getting healthy Macca. RamblinRed

Me and my mates have been suggesting after he left hospital these dates would not happen. They/he must have known earlier there was doubt and sure enough just days before.... Bad form...even allowing for his health.

I don't know if there is any good way to do this. He should be ok to start July 5 in Albany. If that that doesn't happen, this tour is kaput.

Unfortunate for those that made travel plans and can't make the rescheduled dates are out money. Glad Paul is getting better and sounds confident he will be back in July. I among others, have dished out big money and it is a risk we take with concerts. i have bought and travelled a great distance and at a big financial cost to a concert or show only to have it cancelled last minute. It sucks, but it is the risk that i completely understand. Kudos to those that have the foresight to by insurance or refundable travel plans. I am not one of those people and hope that his July and August dates hold true. If they do not fly, i will still be pumped to go to the cities i bought tixs for, just be a bit weird with no PM concert. Get better Paul, hang in there FOTR.
