Thank you SNoodles for the link. Interesting about Paul's family tree. I'll have to go again and do more reading. And you speak 6 languages, you go girl!!!! We're starting to teach our grandchildren Spanish, since it spoken so much over here. I am trying to learn French but being so busy i haven't put the tapes to use. I guess i should just set the time aside and LEARN IT! I envy people who can speak and type in other languages. Judy

Well, to be honest I am certainly not perfect in all those languages. As I grew up near the French/Luxemburgian border I had to learn French as a child. I do understand French and I can read it but as I do not write or speak French that often it always goes like: "Mais, je m'appelle Ellissay. J'habit á Cologne... Je ne parle pas francais..." But if I stay in France for two days it comes fluently. It's the same with Spanish. I am able to read and write Spanish but I am not doing well in conversation. It's the same with all those other languages... I think it's important to speak other languages or being able to read it. I need those languages in my job as well. I am just a sound technician but it's always me who has to phone foreign radio stations if there are technical problems. I like languages. The funniest thing is I am even more fluent in English than in my own mother tongue! In school they laughed at me when I got an A in English or Spanish but a D in German!

Go you! Yeah, I'm taking German right now. My writting is horrible because I can't spell ANYTHING right. But, my reading comp is high, and understanding when someone is talking to me. My speaking is better than my writing. And that's a good thing. My English is pretty bad, too. Although, sometimes I can come up with a good essay. Again, my speaking is bad and it's my mother tounge. Ouch. I don't know. I've always had problems with speaking languages. But, with the reading comp... really good. It's wierd.

The old "Gaeilge" seems to be more popular on this site than in our own Country.
