I absolutely love this song. I think I first discovered it on U-Tube and I was smitten from the first time I heard it. As most of you know, the Beatles never recorded it for one of their proper albums but it is on "Live At the BBC". They gave it to Billy J Kramer to record. Kramer was another group managed by Brian Epstein. Hard to believe that they just gave this great song away. That's how prolific Paul and John were. I read somewhere that it is primarily a Paul song but it is credited as "Lennon-McCartney". It sounds very Paul. If someone could post the Beatles/Live at the BBC version for those unfamiliar to the song, it would be appreciated. There are also some other great covers of "I'll Be on My Way" on U-Tube. WOULD THIS BE A TERRIFIC ADDITION TO THE 2014 TOUR. While Paul has exhausted so much of the Beatles' Catalog, I'll Be on My Way is still a Beatles/Paul Song and it would be an instant crowd pleaser (a la I've Just Seen a Face) in my opinion. I think the Band could do a great job harmonizing with Macca on it and it wouldn't be too taxing on Paul's voice. I hope someone from Paul's team (Band members, Nancy or whoever) can make the suggestion. I can hear the crowd loving this one.

I doubt it would be an instant crowd pleaser since most people don't know it, and Paul's audiences these days are used to a steady diet of familiar material. If he's going to do something obscure, I'd much rather hear "Friends to Go," "The Mess," or any number of other never- or rarely-performed solo or Wings tunes.

                    Here ya go:

______________________________________________ Nancy, Thanks for posting. Even if the words are a bit goofy, does this song just show the beauty of Paul's melodies. According to Wickopedia (or however you spell it), John said it was Paul and it was written in 1963. That would make Paul about 21 at the time. Bruce, I probably got carried away with saying that this song would be an "instant crowd pleaser" although many Beatle fans have bought "live at the BBC" where this recording is on and it has an instantly pleasing hook. I too would like to see Paul add solo songs to his setlist but we know that it isn't going to happen. Yes he will do songs from NEW since it is his latest, but he has rarely shown a tendancy to add an older Solo song. One exception is the time he did "Too Many People" and if you remember he coupled it with She Came Into the Bathroom People. Part of my favorite parts of a Macca show is when he slows things down and does some of his famous guitar mid-tempo stuff...a la I've Just Seen a Face, I'm Looking through You, Two of Us, And I love Her etc. About 10 years ago he was doing In Spite of All the Danger in his European shows and that seemed great looking at U-Tube clips. Songs like Friends to Go or Put It There would be terrific additions but I know it isn't going to happen. That being the case, I would love to hear an early Beatles song (obscure or not) that he's never played before like I'll Be On My Way or In Spite of All the Danger over a song like Let Me Roll It To You or Drive My Car that you've heard a 1000 times. As we know, the shows are geared to Beatle fans and casual Beatle fans who will always be willing to see a real Beatle. Many people on this Site (including me) would go to an "all Solo Macca" Show in a heartbeat but we are regretably few and far between. I'm waiting to see the setlist for the 2014 Shows and just hoping he is doing a good number of different songs whether they are Solo, Wings, Beatles, Early Beatles etc. If not, I might have to skip. The last show I attended (in Philly) was the 2011-12 tour where he added I'm Looking Through You, Two Of Us, 1985, Letting Go and a couple of others. Other than the 89, 91 and 2002 shows where all the songs sounded so fresh, that last show was a fav because you heard so a good number of songs live for the first time. I'm hoping the 2014 shows are the same but I'm not holding my breath.

I think it's only possible for him to do "I'll Be On My Way" if he has some kind of significant story to go with it, as with "In Spite Of All The Danger" or "I Lost My Little Girl." I agree, he's more likely to do obscure Beatles than obscure Wings, but also remember that he's due to put out the Venus & Mars and Speed of Sound reissues, so we could get a couple of obscure tracks from those, such as "Call Me Back Again" or "Beware My Love". (By the way, that's "Wikipedia"... and "YouTube"!) 😉
