The other night I happen to see the video of the Rollins College interview with Paul. As many know, Rollins is the University that Paul's Stepson (and Nancy's Son) attends. As well intentioned as it might have been, the interview was as lame as many others I have seen especially for the hardcore fan. I was hoping that the interviewer was in fact a Macca fan and knew a lot of his music. Unfortunately, you could tell he wasn't. He focused on the Beatles with the same questions that Paul has answered time and time again. Paul as a Beatle, how Paul wrote with John etc. etc. We heard the same stories about the same songs....Blackbird (the Bach story), Yesterday (the dream origin), Getting Better (John's Can't Get worse part), Drive My Car (problems with the lyrics) etc. If you had an opportunity to interview Paul, what would yours be like and what would be your focus. I realize that this isn't going to happen but maybe one of Paul's people would see this Post and suggest to Paul that he does an interview something like we are proposing and with someone who knows his Catalog. My first thought would be something like this. __________________________________________ "Paul as a huge fan of your entire musical career, I would like to focus right now on strictly your Solo Catalog (i.e. after the 70's and Wings) I say this because most people from countless interviews know in deep detail about your Beatles career, your most famous Beatle songs and even a lot of your Wings' era. In contract most people know little on the Solo side. Do you realize it has been 45 years since McCartney (the album) was released. I personally happen to think that your Solo Catalogue is one of the most underrated in the modern Pop/Rock music era." "Because you have so many good to excellent Solo albums, I would like to narrow this interview to a couple of albums and your recollections of those specific time periods, the specific songs etc. " "The first one I chose is one of my all time favorites...Flaming Pie." "Flaming Pie, as you know, came right after the Beatles' Antholog. Questions: What do your remember as a whole about the FP recording sessions? Do you realize how many great songs there are on FP (Many Beatle worthy in my opinion) What do you remember and what was the writing inspiration and origin for: *Beautiful Night *Calico Skies *Little Willow *Heaven on a Sunday *Young Boy *Somedays *Flaming Pie (the song) *Souvenir (I would have to ask Paul if he ever considered contacting Sam Smith (the new British soul singer) and asking him if he would be interest in recording Souvenir) I would ask Macca again if he realizes how good these songs are. I would also tell him that, in my opinion, if most of these songs were on the White Album, they would be considered classics. Depending on the length of the interview, you could then go to another album (i.e.Chaos) and take a similar approach. If you could ever could have this opportunity of a lifetime interviewing Paul, what would your interview be like and what questions would you ask.

I'd concentrate on the songs, I guess, and his songwriting process, what inspired him to write that particular song, what are some things that give him songwriting ideas, does he need to be in a certain place or mood or time to write his songs, did he always have to be in love to write his love songs, does the melody more often come first or is it the lyrics, etc. I'd like to take some time to sing a few of his songs with him as he strums his guitar

B.J, a most interesting/excellent scenario. With the cameras rolling: I would ask about those early post-Beatle days... how much did John and Paul listen to each others' early solo album offerings? Did they get a hold of those releases before they were officially released? Did they exchange any opinions? Did John ring Paul and say, well, half those songs on X-album are good, but the rest wouldn't cut it with the Beatles? Or, conversely, did Paul ring John and say the same? Did they still have any active relationship with each other that no one else knew about?... Paul, what did you think when you saw John and George recording How Do You Sleep? That must've hurt? Paul, many a fan will say you've made some poor choices in the release of your singles throughout the years.... I would cite lots of examples.... but, why the heck, when Maybe I'm Amazed is one of/the greatest songs in your catalogue, did you not release this at the time, rather than belatedly as part of Wings Over America? It had "HIT" written all over it.... I would then laud it as my favourite of his solo songs. Paul, you have an excellent catalogue of solo music out there. Do you realise that many of your fans would like to see you play more of those songs live?.... Any chance you would do more intimate gigs, similar to the Unplugged album? Aimed more for those who want to hear Tug of War, Souvenir, My Baby's Request, Through Our Love, Somedays, Little Lamb Dragonfly, etc. etc.... You've got one hell of a catalogue! Paul, I think the Paul is Dead conspiracy is malarkey, although very cleverly orchestrated by others .... but, the only thing I have always found weird is that the gibberish spoken by John after "I'm So Tired", when played backwards does definitely sound like "Paul is dead man, miss him, miss him."... any chance that was put on as a lark? It would be something John would do as a gag. (I won't go on to the "We Will X You Like Superman, as he has already addressed that). Paul, there are a lot of unauthorized biographies written about you.... One with the initials G.G in particular.... how do you react to those? Do you personally read them back to back? Or do you have people that you trust who do it for you? It must rile you. Paul, you have a very prolific website, obviously befitting one of your stature.... do you ever read the message boards? Have you ever posted on it?... Is it true your moniker is.....? Paul, the whole "A Toot and a Snore" sessions.... tell me more.... Paul, Wings At the Speed of Sound.... do you feel you missed an opportunity at Wings' peak to drive things home by allotting too many songs to other members in an effort to come across as a real "band"? Paul, what do you believe is your best solo album?.... And Beatles album?... And John's album? Paul.... a lot of fans are divided about your collaboration with Mr. Kardsashian.... what do you have to say to me... um.... them? How would you react if you were accepting an award and the likes of Mick Jagger jumped on stage and derided you? Paul... your views on Mary Jane? (most likely off camera) Paul, any lost Beatles' songs still out there that nobody knows about? Anything in your cupboard we should know about? Paul, was there ever any real genuine talk as we turned into the 1980's of a Beatles' reunion? And if John had indicated he was in, and so too Ringo, but George had said no.... would it still have gone ahead? Paul, if you could relive one year in your life, what would it be? Paul, your favourite Beatles' song, your favourite movie, TV Show, drink, food? I would finish the interview just as I began it.... telling him how much I loved him and his music, and how important he was to me. Cue to the credits.

But assuming I'm just an ordinary fan, I might ask things like: Did you and John really drive all the way to that holiday camp to ask Ringo to join the group? Do you wish you had kept some of those songs you and John "gave away" to others? Is "Carnival of Light" really so bad? Come on, you did Liverpool Sound Collage! Is it y0u or John singing the "aaahhhh"s after "went into a dream" in "A Day in the Life"? Is it you, John, or a combination singing "She loves you, yeah yeah yeah" at the end of "All You Need Is Love"? What's the first line of "Rocky Raccoon"? Who shouts out "f***in hell" right before the "Hey Jude" buildup? What made you laugh during "writing fifty times" in "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"? What was different about the original tapes of Band on the Run that were stolen? Like toris, I'd ask about the Toot and a Snore session. Would you recommend taking little kids on tour with you? If you could reconstitute Wings with any of the past members, who would you pick? How much time did you spend with George in the '80s and '90s? Would you want to write with Eric Stewart again? Denny Laine? Elvis Costello? Anyone else you would like to write with? How many people have you personally converted to vegetarianism for good? What do you think Linda's greatest contribution was? (Nice one to end on.)

And, Favourite Thing asked the question I forgot about!.... can't believe I missed it.....Rocky Raccoon!... Many of us want the answer to that one... I'd climb many a "mountain" to know the answer to that!.... Also, I would be very interested to know the ideal Wings line-up.... a great question...not sure Paul would offer that up, but I'd like to know who he would handpick out of the various line ups as his faves.

Never heard the mooning rumor, but I assume it's something like that. I suppose they were so tired of recording the song, that they said to Paul, "Oh, that one's good enough. Just move on!" But of course this is nothing compared to George's "Miss O'Dell"!

                                  B J Conlee:

Excellent. Let me try to ask a few also - lol. 1) Have you ever thought of releasing a "Greatest Hits" type CD from your solo work. 2) Do you know your mike was not on when you performed at the Grammy awards? 3) What do you enjoy more, recording with the band or playing all the instruments and singing vocals yourself? 4) What are your children's favorite songs from your career? 5) What is your favorite song from "The Art Of McCartney"? 6) I have always loved "House of Wax", very haunting and great guitar riffs. What is the song about? 7) What is the toughest song for you vocally in concert?

                                  Maybe I'm amazed !!

Some good questions, but that would take a hell of a lot longer than a half hour!

Well, I might've got ahead of myself!..... I'm talking a mini-series....... half-hour episodes...

I'm all in for the mini series! BUT about Rocky Raccoon...I'd ask Paul why he sang black minin hills & the printed matter is different.

"Paul, let me ask you this. Why in every interview, do you regularly stare up at the ceiling? What the hell are you looking at up there?"

And it's off to the side usually right?
