BTW, when Paul played Las Cruces, NM in 1993, he greeted us in Spanish as well and spoke Spanish throughout the show. Muy cool!

Here's one of the funniest tweets I saw on Twitter about Paul's shows in Austin:
Just saw Sir Paul McCartney live. He clearly has no idea that he's 70, and I truly hope that no one ever tells him.

Searching Paul McCartney on Twitter last night really did make for some great reading, had to laugh at the Erwin Center calling Here Today Here Now though!

"...three hours of amazing singing from this great gentleman. he is beyond a musician, he is a protean figure of art, like some special part of god dropped down and decided to sing for a lifetime." "Just saw Sir Paul McCartney live. He clearly has no idea that he's 70, and I truly hope that no one ever tells him." Those are the best posts I've ever read here.

You mad bro? Yes, those 2 comments are lovely sentiments but criticism is perfectly valid, too. The man doesn't walk on water. He's had great albums and bad ones, good performances and bad ones. He's worn cool jackets and atrocious pink ones. We criticize because we care.

Anyone have a list of songs performed at soundcheck for both dates in Austin? Thank you!

I last saw Paul in Rotterdam last March, and was interested in seeing the new show, so I managed to coordinate a visit to Austin with a trip to LA. Got into Austin around noon, checked into an airport hotel and decided to go out and check out the city. Unfortunately, fell asleep so no city tour. Got to the venue around 3:30 p.m. for the soundcheck package, and the box office couldn't find my ticket - they searched for 15 minutes or so, and finally handed me a ticket in the second row, center. I told them - this is a great seat, but I don't think it's the right ticket. They assured me that everything was fine. Of course, I go to my seat about 30 mins before show time, and there is someone else in the seat, a kid with exactly the same ticket as mine. He was part of a family of four said that they had been upgraded to those seats by Paul's people. They seemed so happy - it must have been the evening of a lifetime for them, especially the father, who seemed to be in heaven. Anyway, they finally found my seat (which they fortunately hadn't given away to someone else), and I enjoyed a great show in a very nice venue (the floor, which is only used for basketball, is very small, so the seats in the stands have a very good view of the stage compared to other arenas). The first few rows are large 35-40 seat blocks without any aisles to break them up - a bit of a fire hazard, in my opinion - they probably shouldn't do that. As for the performance, his voice was a little rough in spots, particularly at the soundcheck where he doesn't have 15,000 voices singing along to cover it up. I really wish that he would avoid Helter Skelter and the like in order to save his voice over the course of a long tour. The band was in great form; very few flubs that I could hear. From a setlist perspective, it was nice to hear these new "deep cuts" from the Beatles catalogue - Your Mother Should Know, All Together Now, Eight Days a Week, Mr. Kite, Lovely Rita - although frankly, I thought that except for Lovely Rita, they were all a bit on the weak side (I guess that's the reason that he's waited until now to perform them). Compensating for that, Hi Hi Hi and Junior's Farm were amazing. All in all, the new show is a wonderful, despite the weaker Beatles tracks. If you have the opportunity to see him, do it.

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together. See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly. your hair is oh no matter to me...but quite a few people wish he'd get a haircut...not short...just that LONG front part.
