I think it could make it into the clubs as is. It's a great dance tune!

I love the song as is too, but when I try to imagine it in a club, it seems like it needs something, and I can't put my finger on it. Maybe sped up just a tad? parlance

I think it's a fantastic song, but am not overly sure whether it'd be successful as a single.

...and, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

Is it just me or would anybody else really like to see this performed live? Has to be a tough one to do, heavy on the Wix I bet. Abe drumming his ass off, Rusty on lead, Brian on bass, Paul on Ciguitar?

              When you're wide awake,
              Say it for goodness sake
It's gonna be a great day...

Guess we'll have to see if Paul was serious about "learning the whole album."

The more I listen to this song, the more it reminds me of the dark textures on Peter Gabriel's "Up" album from 2002. That was an album that took a while for me to "appreciate," but it's worth it!

Hmm... I personally think its a good song but there are quite a lot of people who don't really like it... sort of like how I knew so so many who hated "nod your head". its something different which I respect paul for trying something different, but that wont occasionally translate to a successful single.... if anything, New, Queeny Eye are already confirmed singles, leaving usually only one to go... if paul wanted to play it safe he would proably wold of gone with alligator or save us. but if hes being risky... it could be really anything.... if anything im supprised that people arnt annoyed that outside of japan we don't get struggle. I find struggle to be so perfect and awesome! maybe struggle will be released as a supprise single??? who knows?

Every non-Paul fan I've played the song for has loved it. And I know at least two Paul fans who didn't like it who said it's a grower. I really hope Paul does it in concert. parlance

                        SusyLuvsPaul:

hee hee, thank you. It's Susy and not Suzy 'cause my Christian name is Susan. Easy to get it mixed up, I know Y'all ought to play "Queenie Eye" in your gay bars, 'cause it keeps saying "Out"--also for the word Queenie I guess, LOL, and I hope you play other songs of his too during your revels. You might have noticed he's a bit of a dandy now & then. There'll be a special sparkly rock star touch to his wardrobe like long fancy capes, for example. He had his concert dressing room tent done up like Arabian Nights at one venue I read about--all those gorgeous colors, textures and designs....Love that he did that!

Yes, Paul is a bit dandy now and then. I think it's more of a British thing; mannerisms. Some of his body movements on stage and hand gestures and running them through his hair and shaking it, has always seemed a bit "stereotypical" of a gay man, but it's a British thing and stereotypes are just that and nothing more. I did see his concert when he sort of used the Arabian Night motive/stage design....big draperies. Forget what year that was. And yes, "Queenie" is part of the equation in singing "Out"...it should work quite well!

Whatever the next single is, if there is one, it probably won't come out till next year, after the holidays. Although one possibility is Record Store Day in the U.S. The official one is in April every year (a 12" of "Maybe I'm Amazed [live]" came out this year) but they also do special releases for Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving). I could see Paul putting some kind of limited edition vinyl single out for that: How about "Appreciate" backed with "Struggle" or "Secret Life of a Party Girl"? A CD of "Appreciate" remixes? Possibilities are endless!

i think i said that wrong, not so much not liking it, just not knowing what to think of it since its so so different. its not a song that most people can listen to once and go " oh i get this song". this can be risky when modern society has a certain " sound" people understand and if they don't get it, they can begin to hate it because they wont understand it. i don't really know how to explain it... its a bit hard to get the idea im trying to across. trust me, id be cool with this song being a single, i just don't think its a good move if your trying to get others outside of the fanbase. it could work, but there still lingers the scary fact that it could just backfire and most people will use " appreciate" as a joke of some sort. seriously i think struggle should get a single. its so so dam awesome. cause huge banks of water are so so awesome. im being serious. plus, that will make everyone happy that they don't have to ship New from japan. might annoy people who already brought the disk though....[size=7]1290 people in aus should buy the album again to get the album to rise in the charts again

Struggle's in my top 5 on this album, but I think that's a far more "out there" (no pun intended) track, and a much, much riskier prospect for a single than "Appreciate." parlance

Appreciate keeps running in my head all day as if I had set the play again button and programmed just that track on the CD player. It's an addictive song.
