I sold most of them to a few people & gave away some. They were all in very good condition as well some still in wrapper that I picked up years ago really cheap from delete bins. I just didn't want to move them again as next year we'll be downsizing to a smaller home. It's much more convenient listening to music digitally. I currently have 225 GB (77 days)of music.
I just bought a 6TB external hard drive. I intend to sort out & transfer some of the cds & DVDs that I have on multiple 2TB drives.
Digital is the way to go; so much easier & no clutter.
Yeah, until your 6TB hard drive crashes and you lose everything in one go. Been there, not going back.
So...what are you doing now?
I think it's better to use multiple smaller hard drives of one or two TB apiece than use one huge drive. You don't want a single point of failure which takes down everything you have. If you have any regular money coming in you could always rent cloud storage and back everything up, which is probably the safest option.
That's what I am doing actually. My multiple 2 TBs are full so I wanted one large one to house most of one artist & that will be backed up maybe to a cloud. The small drives are for current use.
Good job then. I'd recommend to everyone to open a gmail account which also gives you google drive account and 15gb free storage space. It's not enough for large media collections, but it's a good place to keep precious photo's and documents; as hard drives are just too prone to failure.

That just a sad story. You had to throw away so many of his memories because of logistics. Someone should start some kind of service that goes into relatives' houses and deal with all of that if you can't get to it. In a country like the United States, children can live hundreds of miles away from their parents.
I saved a lot of stuff though, too numerous to mention, and shipped one of those U-Haul pods to GA. The stuff I threw away was mostly junk/crap like oobu said. I was able to donate a lot of VHS tapes and DVDs to the Senior Center and a few items to the library. I kept only the good ones. My dad had so many! I also donated furniture to charity. Nothing he had was worth much. I do regret selling his desk. At the time I had no room for it though.

Flickr gives you 1000 gigabyte for free -- excellent place to backup your photos!

I currently have 232 GB of music back up on a 256 GB memory stick. I'm considering a WD 1TB external device as I've only have 94GB left on my laptop memory.

I only have 64 GB or about 30 days worth stored. I have about 4 years of music purchases not downloaded yet and have started downloading only favorite songs to save on space. I'm thinking smaller external hard drives are the way to go.

I was just looking at some at Best Buy. They will be on sale for Black Friday..... 4 & 8 Gb by Western Digital. I use them for videos.

I store all my tunes using the Sony Media Go site as I only use Sony MP3 Players. I was going to purchase a WD 1 TB storage but the Sony Media Go doesn't recognize it so the only back up I have are a 256GB and 64 GB USB flash drive along w/ my office computer. I would purchase a 512 GB USB flash drive however they are very expensive.
