People on this forum can really be jerks sometimes.

And here I'd been searching for a good definition of irony to show my students...

This sounds like it could be worked up into a United Nations Resolution and backed by those nations that failed to place Mull of Kintyre in their Top Ten Singles Chart. It ought to be fast tracked through their approval process so that it is passed rapidly, thus unblocking impediments to Mull of KIntyre entering the Out There set list! Probably not a ghost of a chance that he will play Mull in America. Since Paul won't import it, best chance to hear it on this tour is to head to Winnipeg.

He will probably play it in Ottawa and Regina, too. I believe he has played it at every Canadian show except for the shows he's done in Quebec province. I have seen Mull several times, and every one of those performances has been in either Scotland, or in Canada.

Would love to have seen it in Scotland! Thus must have been superb.

It was. Whole theatre was singing along.

Theatre? You must have seen him in 1979 at the Apollo???? That was a legendary place, so I hear. In 2010, it was outside, wasn't it? I have the live recording of it as a bonus track on the All My Trials CD from the 1990 Glasgow show, think that was outside as well.

yes. I saw the two shows at the Glasgow Apollo and the one at the Edinburgh Odeon in 1979. Remarkable and still 3 of my very favorite Paul shows ever. Crowds at all 3 shows sang loudly along with Mull.

Yes, both 1990 and 2010 shows were outside. I didn't go to either of those. But I do have the All My Trials CD, too.

Oh man, if I could have been there too! I finished up my studies over there earlier that year and had moved back to the States. Missed seeing him until 1989.

Oh sorry you missed that tour, especially if you had already been in the UK that same year. I was happy to make it over to catch the Scotland shows and Concert for Kampuchea (where he did NOT perform Mull, btw, just to keep on topic.)

I had bad luck with Paul's tours in the 1970s. Was finishing exams in 76 when he played Atlanta, although I probably could have made it had this guy whom I had gotten Stones tickets the preceding year come through for me. Then, of course, missed him by a few months in Scotland in 1979. When he finally hit the road again in 1989, I said I don't care where I have to go I am going to be there and then the old Fun Club offered up New York tickets and I was off for my first concert of his at Madison Square Garden on December 11, 1989. Hoping to make D.C. this summer.

John/Nightfish (Debbie?), I've seen Paul do Mull 5 times, 3 in Glasgow including at the much missed Apollo in 1979. The latter was unbelievably special - the place went nuts when the pipers emerged from the side of the stage. If you haven't heard the Last Flight bootleg you need to get a copy! The 1990 Glasgow gig was supposed to have been outside but for a variety of reasons it was moved indoors to the SECC.

In Scotland, it is common to hear the phrase, "We're all Jock Tamson's Bairns", meaning "we're all the same under the skin" or "we are all God's children".

I also finally got to hear it live in Toronto a few years back. It would've been nice if the NYPD/FDNY pipes and drums could've backed him up.
