I still think it's just about NEW, not the song "News".

BUT, every one if the clues has been "new"s...

Perhaps, but it still feels strange, especially since there's been "sworthy". If this were about "News", wouldn't he be tweeting "worthy" and "paper" and "anchor" and "channel"? Unless Mark Ronson was wrong or misquoted, and the song "News" is actually called "New"? I"m still going with NEW as just NEW album and single.

        PDS:

        New Potato

Yes, "new potatoes" are on plenty of menus I've seen. Kind of a trendy thing, like applewood smoked bacon, or aioli.

Ah, didn't know that. Now it makes sense

But you could be right, Eric: all of them are "new"s. With a title like "News", it's just hard to imagine the song being a catchy single! Like if it were called "Insurance" or "Spreadsheet". Not out of the question, though, if Ronson produced it.

I actually googled the term after I read about Paul's tweet to see if it was some term I wasn't familiar with but that all the hip and trendy people were. I came up with several interesting hits.

"I don't like you" "I'll get over it"

I obviously have no inside information, but I'd be wiling to bet the final clue, before a full on announcement, will be "ALBUM".

Or just a way of saying there's a NEW album coming. Nice work!

Or maybe he's just finding out about the royal baby that was born a couple weeks ago. But where does potato fit in? lol

This may be the case. The Spanish radio station Innercia shows on their Facebook page (and Twitter): "Mañana se estrena en radio "New" el nuevo single de @PaulMcCartney, anticipo del que será su decimosexto disco de estudio @UniversalSpain" https://www.facebook.com/innercia?fref=ts Looks like the song may hit radio tomorrow!

My translation, "Tomorrow will be the radio premiere of "New", the new single from Paul McCartney, and "taster"/"preview" of his 16th studio album" So tomorrow is the world premiere of the single and the album seems that will be published by Universal Music. When they say "anticipo", I translate it as "preview", not that they're gonna stream the whole album or so but that they mean the new song is a taster of the new album, as almost any first single... I feel we're gonna be confused sometimes with this: the "New" song, the "new" single

Now the new album has been described as sounding as Beatles 1967 especially as Penny Lane. I know some don't like that style in Paul, but that would be Paul returning to what I miss the most in him. His happy, 20th Century Mozart-like, jumping-melodies tunes. Often called "cheesy", you know, Obladi Oblada, Penny Lane, English Tea, We All Stand Together and even Hey Jude. As for me bring back the piano, the harpsichords, the violins and the trumpets and the horns and Paul doing "happy Mozart tunes" again. But I feel this will be (again) another album that will divide the fans... some will be dissapointed cause they don't like much that style in Paul, and some will like it a lot. But well, Chaos, MAF also were albums that kind of divided fans, so most people like Chaos and then don't like MAF or like MAF and then don't like Chaos much.

I'm confused - why does that post end with "@UniversalSpain". I thought that with EMI's sale, The Beatles were now on Universal, but I didn't think Paul was (?).

Also, just spitballing here but since most of the words tweeted (other than potatoe) could have the word "New" placed in front of them and there were plural words..I wonder if the new single is "News" that was recently named in a Mark Ronson interview...would seem to fit
