Greetings, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I ordered and received several copies of the Pure McCartney Deluxe sets from Amazon. The Seller was " XOSNEPAPH " who has moved on to sell other CDs. This was shipped to me, handled by Amazon, rather than the Seller. I had purchased the deluxe CDs as gifts to friends. These forgeries are fairly slick and if I did not have a legit one on hand, (which I had bought from my local record shop), perhaps I would not have been able to tell with some confidence... without a previous reference. I have enclosed pictures below. ( Note: The images of suspected fakes are placed to the Left) Fortunately, I am a collector of printed matter and a fine arts artist with experience in lithography/print-making. BACK COVER: A brighter white paper stock. The font is darker and fairly blurry. With a UPC Bar code sticker that displays the seller's name over the original bar code. FRONT COVER: The image is much darker, pixilated, loss of detail in the shadows on Paul's face, texts is slightly pixilated as well (subtle), blurry Gold font. Different sheen. INSIDE: The B&W images are darker and more crude, Gold toned images are either faint or too dark with little contrast. Some handling bends throughout as well. CDs look pretty good, though the Placement of "Paul McCartney" overlaps towards the middle spindle. Original specimen it is opaque white throughout, where the fakes they become more translucent white in the middle.. Also to note, the stiff pages that house the Cds: in the bootleg version they are embossed and raised, caused a harsh oval indentation on the opposing pages, where the official candidate lies flat and does not mark the facing pages. Have not bothered to listen. P.S. Amazon has agreed to refund my payment and to send the items back. The Seller has 100% feedback, but only 12 or so reviews. Mostly being from the Pure McCartney sales. Seller wrote me back in broken English with a message that was basically vague and meaningless. I left the seller negative feedback which Amazon removed within 24 hours? I spoke with a supervisor at Amazon, they said they would look into this. Either way, I suspect there may be some consumers out there with fakes via Amazon? Thoughts?

Were they a lot less expensive? If so, you get what you pay for, I guess! Glad Amazon is getting you your money back!

I did not pay a whole lot less than my legit copy. The alarming thing to note, is if one goes to PaulMccartney.com and then to the store portal, there is a link to Amazon to buy this item. From there the listing offer I purchased was set on the top by default, and stated "fulfilled by Amazon" and even eligible for Amazon Prime. So, Paul Mccartney.com is providing a link (somewhat directly) to purchase a counterfeit of Pure McCartney, where Amazon is basically being used as a dumping ground for knock offs. Going through Paul McCartney right now, leading to Amazon, I see a new account selling the deluxe Pure McCartney with Zero Feedback and for under $23! I would wager that it too is suspect?

I have already started the return process and also called them to let them know it's a fake item. I just got the package today. Thanks bogey wobble.

Sure thing Edcrawf. Delighted that you were able to identify it. Sorry you were sent a fogery as well. Also to note, I think the CDs may be telling (new Image below). The real deal should be a uniform opaque white until it reaches the clear part of the inner CD. The Fakes have a dark circle and become more translucent white within. See the specimens to the left. These are slick, so BEWARE! Regards, Eddie "Bogey Wobble"

Now if they will remove the fakes from their site I don't know. If I get another copy it will be either through a us dealer used or has to say ships and sold by Amazon.

So if you buy a CD from Amazon, you're buying it from some guy and not the record company?

Sometimes. It will tell you if it is from Amazon directly or fulfilled by Amazon, or from a 3rd party seller.

Bingo! Although in the future I will make sure it states Amazon. Return went fine. In this case it ended up defaulting to the seller I mentioned. Lesson learned (and I have been buying from Amazon for years). Usually it's not an issue. Just look before you click.

Why "can't" you? Because you're not living is the U.S.? You can buy from any (U.S., Canada, UK) Amazon, but you will pay for the shipping.

Amazon won't let people in China buy CDs and DVDs. I assume it's because of bootlegging. So a smart guy created an Amazon bootleg, Alibaba, which is so much better.

My Deluxe is a legitimate one and I bought mine from Amazon! Thank you Bogey Wobble for pointing out the counterfeit deluxe sets. I have to tell my friends that purchased the deluxe sets (About 26 of them) and tell them to make sure that their deluxe sets are not counterfeit.
