McCartney Songs/Albums You Discovered Late
-
Think I've been on a roll with McCartney since I was a kid, but maybe some of the albums of George Harrison, like "Thirty & 1/3" and "Gone Troppo". I've had these on LP since the early 80s but I played them more later, especially when they were rereleased in 2004. "Wonderwall Music" I think have gotten better with time, or if I'm more open to it. It's a true original.

I think the only track I liked was Cowboy Music!

It's not so much a collection of songs, it's a collage. A strange fusion of which was called 'world music' in the 90s and early samplings. Inventive and fun made I think. One can not only listen to pop songs. George Harrison realized this.

That I understand, but my question was with regard to the rest of your post.
I know. I'm just teasing the hipsters.

Was late to the party with Press and Flowers in the Dirt and Chaos In the Backyard but really got immersed in them, finally. Press to Play must be a lot better than some think, I went around listening to it often on my Sony Walkman, LOL, some years ago. I was knocked out by Flowers in the Dirt album's variety. Its stunning diversity of styles. I remember getting Tug of War right when it came out, and London Town, right away. With "Chaos" I was struck by its introspection with Macca in spot on sensitive singer-songwriter mode, revealing more of his inner thoughts and feelings than he ever had before, possibly, in his music. All the songs on Chaos & Creation give rare insight into his heart and mind. One has to sort of cherry pick to find that on his other albums. In the song "This Never Happened Before" on "Chaos & Creation" I wondered about the title of the song and its whole theme--what about Linda? Romance and love HAD happened before with Linda, I know he couldn't and didn't forget" I thought upon first hearing--was that a dumb or lame reaction to that song? Because it was a generic (but not really, all his are special) "love song" with universal application? Yet most or all the songs on "Chaos" seemed personal, intimate. As if baring his soul.

I posed a query about "This Never Happened Before" from C & C In the Backyard, in the above post, wondered if it might garner some input. It might be a rather lame nebulous vague question. I wonder if the question itself is valid. I assumed the song was about his latest relationship at the time w/ H. M.

Water Spout. What a great tune. Why this wasn't put on London Town is a total mystery.
-
Been looking for Wing Wild Life on CD and I discovered it's out of print and kind of a collectible now.

If all songs are literal, then you have to wonder how he could sing such a thing after the death of his wife. But sometimes a song is just a song. Some things sound better than others. Hey Jude is not about someone named Jude.
-
"Hey, Jude" is about Julian Lennon (?). The name Julian was too long to fit in the song. (Always liked the names "Julian" and "Adrian" for men.)

Hey Jules is what Paul originally sang.
-
Well, he should have kept it "Hey Jules," you think? I like "Jules" better

Um, ok.
-
I know. It's hard to think of such an iconic song with a different title, after all these years. But the name "Jude" reminds one of "Jude the Obscure" that depressing as hell Thomas Hardy novel, in literary moments. "Jules" has a pretty ring to it. But yes it ought to be what it is.

I recently discovered Little Lamb Dragonfly. What a wonderful song. @SuzyLovesPaul I also discovered Ram late. Too Many People and Monkberry Moon Delight are 2 of my favorites now.

Press To Play was the only one of his albums I didn't know about or buy until way after it came out. Actually got it at a Beatles convention.
