Just listened to the extended version of 'Letting Go' and it's not even worth downloading for free. I would go as far to say it's c**p. Just remove all the backing vocals, it's fine and no one will notice. Completely ruined the track. Very lame.

I wouldn't say it is crap at all...but they maybe should have said that it is just an isolated vocal. There are many of them floating around the internet.
-
How? This is the basic take of the version which made the single/album, pre-editing and pre-overdubs. And interesting listening, and it's great.
-
Huh? I'm loving the extended version of Letting Go. It allows us to hear how the song was progressing before the final track. That's the appeal of alternate takes.
-
I remember back in 2011 when the new web-site thing came, I was happy to pay money for being first one to use "exiting, full of material" fansite. Instead we didnt get anything for our moeny. This is same. Free downloads!! Gifs?? Yayy The main-paeg has also gone to a s**t. Its lot worse and confusing than the first versions.

Yes, that's all very well. But they are using it to promote the reissue. Lauren Laverne played it as an exclusive on BBC 6 Music today, and even she faded it before the end, no doubt through boredom. A half finished track is hardly going to encourage people to investigate a reissued Wings album where they had no or little knowledge of the album before.

I guess people will complain about anything now, even if it's free. I'll go back to the Steve Hoffman forum, where they're loving this track.

You need to get your hearing checked. And maybe get a lesson in internet manners. Gosh what a needlessly ugly post. As for your bizarre comment on the BBC radio host, here's what she said on Twitter about this track: "Bit of info on our fabulous Wings #MPFree on @PaulMcCartney's website http://www.paulmccartney.com/ Thank you, Paul! X" Clearly she liked it or she wouldn't have played it at all.

Absolutely. It's a terrific alternate take.

It meanders for the last two minutes -- nothing happens. Pointless. A McCulloch solo would've salvaged this. "Letting Go" is a song that Wings definitely got right on the stage -- but really dropped the ball in the studio.

I really don't get what there is to criticize here. 1. It's FREE. 2. It's a rarity, used apparently as a backing track. Paul rarely releases rarities and alternate takes, let alone gives them away. We want him to do this more often. So releasing this is a good thing and a good way to tease promotion of the reissue. 3. It's a great vocal. 4. And did I mention? It's FREE???

Well, let's just all hope and pray for a free download of "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reggae" -- sans fiddle.

seems as if now a days Paul could sneeze and folks would say he sneezed wrong.
Everybody can have their opinion of course but lately seems as if everything Paul does isn't good enough.

I totally agree. I love hearing a work-in-progress like this, gives some insight into his process. It's not like he's saying "here's my new single" or anything. Just something extra for the fans. I think this is exactly the kind of thing he should be giving away free. (And it's in much better quality than the "unauthorized" version of this that's out there, too.) My only negative comment on the downloads: I don't really see him winking in the "wink" GIF.
