Paul performs at Hillary Clinton fundraiser

SurSteven:
Trump is a scam artist and the Democrats are 10 times more likely to represent ALL Americans, than Republicans are (who are a special interest group by nature). Praises to Paul for always trying to do the good and correct thing, rather than the "right" thing.
I agree, except to add that both candidates come from the same basket of deplorables...every time a righty or lefty complains about the other candidate, they're actually describing both candidates...as a more conservative minded person, I would be happy to take a better prepared democrat over 'my guy' and I know many democrats who would take a better prepared republican over 'their 'gal'...I'm actually writing in a vote this year (have even pondered 'Paul McCartney', although the man leans more left that I do...LOL)

There is a former boardie who has deleted all his Paul music off his computer (not sure if he's trashing his physical LPs, etc.) because Paul endorsed Hillary. Sorry, but I keep an artists' politics separate from their music.

Seems he wasn't really a great fan then :

Is this a person with a name very similar to a certain brand of European car?

SusyLuvsPaul:
I want Hill and Bill and Tim to win SO BAD (two Presidents for the price of one! All that combined wealth of experience and knowledge, and they're brilliant) and was proud to see Paul fund-raising for the Dems (course, you'd hardly expect to see him touting Trump) !
Hillary is actually pretty icky as Democrats go. But in this election she has several advantages over her main opponent. 1. She's not racist. 2. She's not fascist. 3. She's not crazy. 4. She does actually know a bit about how the government, the US Constitution and policy work. Given the alternative, she gets my vote. But I'm not going to pretend to like it.

You could vote for one of the other candidates. If all the unsatisfied voters did that, a third party could actually win. If everyone wrote in Paul's name, one of the corporate parties would still win.

That's just stupid. Can you imagine hearing a new band but not deciding if you like them or not until you know their political views. And what about those who switch sides? Should I only listen to Frank Sinatra's early recordings when he was a Democrat or his later recordings when he was a Republican?
-
There is a case to be made for not buying the work of an artist who actively supports politics you loathe. If I liked Ted Nugent's music, for example, I still wouldn't buy it because I do not want to add to the income stream of a man who actively propagates loathesome bigotry and hate. But throwing out old albums you bought years ago does nothing except deprive you of the chance to listen to them again. That's pretty demented.
-
Well, I am surprised mild political views even have such a grasp that they could influence one's decision to buy or not buy an artist's records. EXTREME politics, yes. Like real extreme. Surprised.... especially, if the person I think you are saying is the person who has denounced Paul because of a difference in political views... and discarded his records? That he once treasured? I am astounded..... Cos Paul ain't exactly an extremist on any front. Although I do understand that political favor and leaning is more fervent in the USA than it is in my land..... But... to denounce Paul and discard his records on account of mild political favor seems very extreme.

Hillary only called HALF of Trump supporters deplorable. Trump has called most EVERYONE deplorable. If everyone is in the deplorable pile, I would say that Trump is much, much much closer to the bottom than the rest of us. In fact, I'd say he represents the bottom. As for Paul being left inclined, I'd say that his global community feelings toward life as whole are part of why he is loved by so many all over the earth. If I were to follow the general lead of anyone I know of associated with this board, it would be Paul. If you want to risk super lunatic Trump getting into office, then vote for anyone other than Hillary or The Democrat Party.

I tried to explain just that to him, but to him Hillary = Hitler and he hates Trump too, so he will vote for a 3rd party candidate (effectively throwing away his vote) :

The corporate parties want you to think that voting for another party is throwing your vote away because if people voted for the other parties, the 2 corporate parties would lose their power. They don't get their power from the corporations that own them. They get their power from the voters who do what the corporations tell them to do. If all of the dissatisfied voters voted for the Mashed Potatoes & Gravy Party, the MPG would become the ruling or opposition party. The Democrats or Republicans would be a third party. Throwing your vote away is writing in the name of someone who isn't even a citizen or not voting at all. Voting for an eligible candidate on the ballot is exercising your right. Voting against the establishment isn't voting for a corporate billionaire who is supported by one of the corporate parties. Voting against the establishment is voting for one of the many other parties that the media wants everyone to ignore.

American actors have had their entire careers destroyed because of their mild political views.

Someday, that may be true, but today, this election, either a Democrat or a Republican is going to win. I wish it wasn't true. I would much rather see someone else as President.

Democrats are thought of as a left wing liberal party by Republicans and Conservatives. We have 2 candidates running that are more liberal inclined and are taking 12% of the votes away from Democrat Hillary. These people are only screwing themselves because they are running the risk of allowing Republican and Conservative thinking into office, which is absolutely NON-SUPPORTIVE of their Liberal hopes. We have 2 Candidates running. Hillary and Trump. If you want Trump to win. Vote for Trump. OR, Vote For Anyone Other Than Hillary. Liberals and Green Party Voters Will Only Screw Themselves Completely If They Allow Trump To Get Into Office.

There be some truth in this.... Ronald Reagan never made another B-grade movie ever again! Perhaps I am being errant.... C-grade? Many actors have had their careers stalled for extreme political views, of course. But if Paul came out and declared himself a Trump man, it would have zero influence on whether I bought a record. Now, if he declared himself a Carlton supporter, things might be different! (Carlton being the nemesis of the team I support in Football) Some things are more important than politics.

Two candidates who are more liberally inclined? I count one, Green dips**t Jill Stein. The only other candidate on the ballot in just about every state is Libertarian Gary Johnson. Libertarians are not remotely liberals. I know, I used to work with a bunch of them. They would literally abolish all civil rights laws, among other things. As for the question of voting for 3rd parties: I do it some times -- voted for Nader in 2000 AND 1996. But the system is set up in a way that minimizes their influence, and until that changes one of the major party nominees will be the next president. So if you live in a swing state and do not vote for Clinton, you are in fact helping to elect the Cheetoh-skinned, lying bigot, whether you choose to recognize that fact or not.
