Best Bio?

Hi, I'm sure this has been discussed many times, but the search function doesn't seem to be working. So...which is your favorite Paul bio? Thanks, Terry

The best books to have on Paul or the Beatles ::: 1) Many Years From Now 2) Her There and Everywhere by Geoff Emerick 3) The Beatles Recording Sessions by Mark Lewisohn

Many Years From Now is the best Paul biography.

Paul McCartney: A Life by Peter Ames Carlin

I really like Emerick's book on recording The Beatles, not a Paul book per se, but one of my favorites nonetheless. He's a bit harsh on George sometimes and favorable toward Paul. Not sure he's just being objective or if there was some personal issues.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm going to be traveling a bit and wanted to get an audio book but couldn't decide which one to get!

Here There And Everywhere is a great book but take it with a grain of salt. There's some incorrect details and Geoff is incredibly harsh on George and basically worships Paul throughout the entire thing. Pick up Ken Scott's book as well. Stay away from Blackbird: The Life and Times of Paul McCartney. Cynthia Lennon's John is another wonderful book.

I've been reading a lot about music lately, and wondered if any of you have read the various books about Paul and which is the best? I don't think there's a proper autobiography (yet?). Currently reading the story of Jethro Tull.

I think the nearest there's been to an autobiography is Barry Miles book 'Many Years From Now'. I would also recommend: 'The McCartneys: In The Town They Were Born' by Kevin Roach 'Thank U Very Much' by Mike McCartney 'Man On The Run In The 70's' by Tom Doyle 'The Paul McCartney Story' by George Tremlett 'Paul McCartney In His Own Words' by Paul Gambaccini

There is an authorized biography being released this May. It's called Paul McCartney: The Life, by Philip Norman who wrote Shout: The Beatles in their generation, and John Lennon: The Life. Both excellent reads.
-
Paul McCartney: Recording Sessions (1969-2013). A Journey Through Paul McCartney's Songs After The Beatles. Conversations with McCartney I like both of these as of recent and the Man On The Run Book
-
I thought the Barry Miles book was okay. I liked Wingspan book and the DVD. I liked Danny Fields book very much. Also The Beatles Anthology, as each Beatle wrote his own section, So that is very fine. Also The Macs by brodder Mike. I do not think we will ever see an autobiography from Paul. Think he would rather be working, touring, family time, holidays in St Barts, etc...

Did Philip Norman interview Paul? I read in Judy Burns book that Paul was unhappy with Philip Norman's book Shout. Have you read the new one about Paul? Sounds interesting Randy. Thanks for the heads up on that. I had not heard of it.

Let's not forget about Lewisohn's "Tune In" - yeah, it's a *Beatles* history, not just Paul, but you will get incredible detail on each of the lads. A GREAT read

Don't know about interviews, but the amazon description says it has Paul's consent. That hasn't happened since the Miles book.

I read he communicated with Norman by email.

Paul McCartney: Recording Sessions (1969-2013). A Journey Through Paul McCartney's Songs After The Beatles
This book is amazingly informative, it's especially interesting to me that all the songs are numbered as to when they are written. Some earlier than you would have imagined... You can match them up to Paul's life and it's a biography of sorts that way. The stories that go with each song, are so fascinating to read! So interesting, that Paul McCartney

I completely overlooked that one. You are so right, CAA- a GREAT read. That double book set is a monster-I am still reading it. I was reading that the next edition may be coming out in 2020. Jeez - at that rate it's very possible I would be dead by the time number 3 comes out.

Tune In came out in 2013. At that time Mark said he was 45% done with part 2. Why it would take 7 more years is beyond me!
