Holly Days

Haven't listened to this album in years. I remember buying it when it was first released. "Fools Paradise" received a bit of airplay at the time. McCartney plays most of the instruments on the album and he perfectly captures the spirit of the era. Incredible warmth to this recording. Its as if you are sitting right there in the same room with them as they play the songs. Denny Laine does a great job on it as well. Love the vocal work (Denny, Paul, Linda). Highly recommended

Luckily I got mine when it was first released on cd in 2007, i.e regular price. Appears to be very rare now http://www.amazon.co.uk/Holly-Days-Denny-Laine/dp/B00004ZE8I

not in the US

It should be considered a Wings album, as it's the same line-up of "Band On The Run": Paul, Denny and Linda. I've got the LP and the official CD released in France in 2000, a very enjoyable record indeed. http://www.discogs.com/Denny-Laine-Holly-Days/release/4694945

I still have my original LP copy from when it came out -- haven't played it in years. I should pull it out and give it a spin.

I found an original copy of Holly Days on vinyl in a used record store and it was even autographed on the back so I snagged it for $8

No doubt this sounds fantastic

Autographed by Denny? Or Paul and Linda, too?

Similarly, whilst it had diverse players, McGear could be classified as a Wings album.

So I pulled out my old, original 1977 vintage LP last night and gave it a spin. It's a pleasant album, but I remain puzzled (as I was back then) that the thing didn't rock more. It's so laid-back it almost fades into the background, even when played loud.

I have a year 2000 CD reissue and remaster of "Holly Days". It's not a record I play frequently but enjoyable enough whenever I'm in the mood. It's quite strange (or informal) sounding Buddy Holly covers, with electronic bleeps and a drum machine, it kind of prefigures "McCartney II".
