Only One- new song by Kanye West, featuring Paul
-
It's better than I expected -- actually quite interesting. Paul's organ playing has a subtle funkiness to it, and its telling that Kanye let it solo for more than a minute to close the song. Paul's harmony vocals can be heard at least twice toward the middle of tack -- once clearly, once auto tuned.

I am wondering a little about the motivation of this for both of them. They would seem to have nothing in common musically or otherwise. It looks a little like Kanye is trying to get some cred with Paul's fans, and Paul is trying to get some cred with Kanye's. Though I can't see why it would matter to either of them. I can't see how they hooked up in the first place, other than celebrity. I can see a lot of people going Hmmm?
I agree. Not sure what it's all about. If they just wanted to, ok. But I'm not buying this just because Paul is on it. Maybe McCartney just needs some new challenges, the man has done everything musically imaginable.

Damn, that's fine. Beautiful, well done! Love the melody and sentiment. What a nice surprise, and I agree with others -this exceeded my expectations. I agree with the Stevie Wonder comparison, too. Love the oh-so-gentle and funky piano noodling by Paul. I'm not a fan of the autotuning shtick in general, but I can buy into it in this song. I totally admire the ballsy-ness of this song - a completely stripped-down song of just Kanye singing over Paul's keyboards. Wow. So minimalist, and so cool. I've been hearing the comparisons to Let It Be, but it also has me thinking of Waterfalls, too. In a way, I'm glad to hear the sad skepticism of others to this collaboration -it shows Paul still enjoys rocking the boat and challenging himself and others. Why does Paul work with others like Elvis Costello, Carl Davis, Michael Jackson, Diana Krall, Stevie Wonder to name a few? People with freaking loads of talent enjoy working with like-minded people. It doesn't always work, but I respect that he puts himself out there.

Well, if anything, I guess they're more popular than Yeezus now.

I'm so glad someone posted the lyrics. What a beautiful song with lyrics and that Kanye means "Only One". A gift of love from his mother... it does certainly seem so, doesn't it? I really enjoyed the song! Looking forward to hearing the other ones!

Embarrassing, and damaging to his legacy.

Ok, I am not a Kanye fan at all, mostly because of his behavior, but even I have to admit this song is touching. I highly doubt this will damage Paul's legacy.
-
Not my taste, but don't think it's embarrassing or anything.

: Pretty sure his legacy is firmly in place at this point. There's no way that a collaboration with Kanye West will irreparably damage his 50+ year career.

This single is getting very good reviews & views. It already had a few hundred thousand views on YouTube - in 18 hours - before they pulled it. All the big celebrities are promoting the song on social media. It should be Paul's next #1 single in the States, since Say Say Say.

Paul doesn't even sing on it.
-
Does he have songwriting credit on it?
-
The song is credited to Kanye West/Paul McCartney/Kirby Lauryen, produced by Kanye West and Mike Dean.

Riiiight. The song has only reached #3 on iTunes and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I'm not sure how Paul will ever recover.

Paul sings backing vocals as far as my ears can tell.

Why Paul, why?

And that is a good thing? Not sure which song is worse. :
