The McCartney Albums That Never Were
-
Paul's catalog is so rich, that he could have had a blockbuster "adult contemporary" album just made out of B-sides, bonus tracks, and unreleased tracks, I think. I tried to pick songs that were of a similar era, where the production quality (and the quality of Paul's voice) would mesh together well, with nothing too "rock" and light on the abstract lyrics. Would this have been #1 or what?? I Can't Imagine Keep Coming Back To Love Twice In A Lifetime Your School Lindiana Rainclouds Tough On A Tightrope Sweet Sweet Memories Style Style It's Not True [B-side, not remix] Love Come Tumbling Down Kicked Around No More Down To The River Same Love

PRESS TO RETURN TO PEPPERGROUND
(since it's tracks from the sessions of Press to Play, Return to Pepperland, Off the Ground listed above
) a #1 for me

Smashing songs, except for "Down to the River" a little too bluesingly repetitious to my ears, and he sounds a little like a drunk Elvis. Plastered stoned Elvis
Paul must have been tipsy when he recorded that song. Not familiar with "Your School."

I put "Down To The River" in for a bit of variety. I considered "Same Time Next Year" and "Did We Meet Somewhere Before", but the former I thought was a bit too old and the latter has 1) those neighing horses, and 2) the same theme as "Twice In A Lifetime", which is newer. And "Yvonne", while a great track, well, she's not Linda, if you know what I mean!

Another idea I had is to make an album out of those "half-orphaned" original songs that are stuck out in limbo on larger McCartney projects like his soundtracks, covers albums, and compilations. Maybe something like this: No More Lonely Nights Try Not To Cry My Valentine Back On My Feet What It Is Not Such A Bad Boy Run Devil Run No Values Once Upon A Long Ago [longest version] No More Lonely Nights [playout version] Only Our Hearts
