Question about the keys on a piano
-
Are the white keys still made out of ivory? If so, a big no-no for animal activist Macca!
-
no, they are wooden with a plastic coating that looks like ivory. Ivory piano keys have been out for longer than Paul has been playing the piano.

Oh, good! Check out the piano/ivory part of this video Julian posted:

From what I read, ivory keys pretty much stopped in the 1930s and 1940s and one source said they stopped all together by 1960 and another sai d 1970. Don't know if that's true for all parts of the world. Can't imagine any piano jim McCartney owning in the 50s having real ivory.

Tennis rackets aren't made of intestines anymore either. Can you imagine how expensive things like pianos would be if they were still made with endangered animals and no mass production techniques?
