Does "Region 0 / Region Free" mean that the DVD may be playable on any DVD player, no matter what country?

On the revamped site, the first song on the playlist is " New (Live in Tokyo, November 2013)" It's a damn good live version IMO. I wonder if that will get a release, or even better, the entire show.

Good to know!

Darn too bad the DVD is region 2.

Oh, I was going by the description from the website, it said region 2. Did you get your region 0 from that site? "*The DVD disc is encoded for region 2 (Japan, Europe, and Middle East)"

I bought it from that site but more than likely a typo on their part. I have not received it. I'm confident that the dvd is of one type though generally they are region 2 in those areas.
The key there in that picture is where it says "NTSC and All" That means it is compatible with All regions if your DVD player is NTSC standard. That means good for North America and most parts of the world. (Pal is standard video format in Europe and U.K. so it wouldn't play there)

Many DVD players play all the different types of DVDs. Mine plays NTSC and it also plays PAL.

I wouldn't say many, I would say some. My Blu-ray player won't play Pal video or Region 2 DVDs. If in doubt check your manual.

We can ask ANYBODY named Manuel, or were you referring to a specific Manuel?

That's too bad about your blue ray (which I am not even putting in the equation). I know that PAL is superior to NTSC especially when someone tries to convert it on their own. It is usually listed on the outside of the box.

Interesting that at the same time this edition comes out, he puts out yet another music video ("Appreciate"), with videos for "Save Us" and "Early Days" also reportedly planned. Will there be yet another deluxe edition of New with those videos as well, I wonder??

Every DVD player that plays PAL can also play NTSC. So basically, people who live in PAL countries have nothing to worry about, their players can handle everything. However, not every NTSC player can handle PAL. So people who live in NTSC countries must make sure when they purchase a DVD player that it also can play PAL. Some do, some don't. And that's the ground rule. Back in the VHS days, not every PAL video recorder could play back an NTSC video, and I made sure every time I bought a new video recorder (and I usually got a new one every year) that I got another one of those who could play back NTSC. As for the new Japanese version of "New", it should be playable anywhere if it's region coded to 0. If the region code is 2, it will be locked to specific countries. However, locks can be opened by software. I live in Europe, so whenever I purchase a region code 1 DVD (USA), I have to rip it's contents onto a hard disk drive, strip the region code away, using software, and then burn the contents on to a new, region code 0 disc. So it certainly can be circumvented. I had to do that with the Superbowl DVD that contained McCartney's performance.
