Hello folks, I have been a lifelong Beatles fan and a few years ago, I began collecting signed memorabilia to pass down to my kids (and future grandchildren). I've got a copy of Beatles For Sale signed by each of the Beatles ( UK album) safely tucked away in a safety deposit box. I'd like to see if anyone thought there might be a way to get Sir Paul to reautograph it @ sound check. I know he has officially stopped signing autographs. I am buying tickets that will include sound check and was planning on bringing the album with me. I'm interested in hearing from those who have had first row and/or soundcheck access. Does anyone think this might be possible or have any ideas how to do this? I was thinking, of course, about bringing $$ to give to security people. Thought he might make an exception seeing as how it was signed by each of the Beatles nearly 50 years ago. I'm not planning on selling this in MY lifetime...but would like to pass it down with hopes it will stay in the family. Thoughts?

I'm not sure if adding paul's signature to an album that already has his on it is likely or unlikely. It's an anything goes sort of thing with the sound check. Sometimes he brings people up, but it's not a sure thing. He didn't bring anyone up at the last soundcheck I saw. My best bet of getting it would be to make a sign, I know it's been done to death, so you just have to be creative with it. I don't know about bribing the security though. Also you might want to talk to an autograph expert about getting his signature a 2X on the same item. Adding a modern signature to an era-correct one might actually devalue it. And value, sentimental and monetary, is your long term goal it seems.

For sentimental reasons, it might be worth pursuing. The thing is Paul signs in an abbreviated form these days, and sometimes very sloppily. On occasions when rushed, he sometimes scrawls, "Paul." If your desire is to hand it down to family later to sell, you might actually be lessening its value markedly. If the aim is to obtain his sig so you have all four, then that's another thing entirely. Bear in mind the aesthetics of the album, too. The others have signed in biro? If that's the case you don't want Paul signing in felt tip marker. These things have to be considered. Lastly - just getting it signed is a roll of the dice. Good luck.

What is "signed in biro?" He said that all 4 had signed the album, btw. But I agree that having 2014 Paul sign it might lessen the value.

I've heard you aren't allowed to bring in anything but signs to the sound check. If he signed it long ago, I'd call that good.

I just don't see the point, especially since he's not doing that anymore.

Ah I misread. For Heaven's sake if it;s been signed by all 4 already. LEAVE IT.

LOL Lost in translation eh? Here in OZ, we call ballpoint pens, "biros". http://inventors.about.com/library/weekly/aa101697.htm We also tend to call felt tip markers, "textas," a Texta was a brand name of marker. What you call an eraser, we call a rubber...and on that subject, a brand of cellotape, is called durex... Oh the fun never stops...

I'd leave it alone, too. What I would do is get a Beatle autograph expert to authenticate it. Then ask them what would happen to its value if Paul were to sign it in 2014. Good luck.

I agree with others. If you got the 4 signatures on a UK album, leave it alone! That's a very rare item. The only thing that might enhance its value is having George Martin sign it. Give Paul him something new to sign
