He played it again last night on SNL as well as the Sandy benefit concert. I've even heard "reviewers" saying its a classic. The next step is for a big movie to use it or a popular artist to cover it & sell millions. I dont know. To my ears, it doesnt even approach his classics like 'Yesterday'.

I think My Valentine is a very good song, but i don't think it's a classic Paul song. I could name a few more that might be up their as classics if they were Beatle recordings and not Paul post Beatle. TUG OF WAR WANDERLUST TOO MUCH RAIN NO MORE LONELY NIGHTS I could go on.

"My Valentine" is going to be a classic because it will be the only Paul song to be re-released on 17 different versions of the same album.

I like how he did turn it into a full band version. It sort of reminds me of "Follow Me"

I said months ago that it is a future classic. Knocked me out on the first listen.

Is funny, but the night of 12.12.12 concert , I was watching with my sister, and she is not a Macca fans, and when she listen My Valentine, said, I heard this before, I told her that she didn't, because is a "new" song from last record...and she said, but I think I've heard it. May be is the type of song that can confuse with other song...is a like a typical "de ja vu"...and that kind of things happen with standard songs...

                Please, come back soon!!!!

I don't think it's a classic...yet. But are any songs instant classics? I thought the word classic implied that time had carried on, and this song still mattered.

I don't see where Paul's trying to 'turn it into a standard' (other than the fact it was an original released on his album of standards...). But it's a quite beautiful song that will have staying power. Especially in commercials. It's very emotive and visual, I picture rain and flowers. It's got something for sure. But like someone said, standards are made over time. Yesterday is a standard at this point.

I'm with you, Audi, this is one of my all time favorite of Paul's recent songs, with definite classic potential. But he's smart enough to know that he can't turn any song into a standard -- no artist can. But it's his latest record (well, several of them if you count all the KOTB variations and offspring) and he's promoting it when he plays. Mostly, though, I'm grateful that he's suddenly stopped being an oldies act. Keep it up, Paul!

It's not in the same league as Let It Be Here, There and Everywhere And I Love Her Michelle Yesterday Maybe I'm Amazed Blackbird She's Leaving Home Eleanor Rigby I'm Carrying (If this was a Beatles song it would have covers in the 100's) The Long And Winding Road but it could still become a late classic for Paul

It's a pity Paul doesn't realise Only Our Hearts is the real classic and better than My Valentine and should be pushing it. IMO.

Listen to the song they sing,
                            Awakening

For me I preferred Only Our Hearts when I first listened to it but after a few days of listening to My Valentine it seemed to age better with each listen IMO.

You gotta be kidding me. My Valentine is exquisite and musically and emotionally complex. Only Our Hearts is a good but ordinary Paul love song and not remotely in the same league.

I think it's a very nice song and it reminds me of the kind of song a comercial would use to sell perfume.

Totally! I'd seriously never listen to it by my own choice, but it might entice me to buy perfume if used properly in a commercial! That's a great call debbie.

I would put My Valentine down as a later day classic. I think it has the potential to be in a lot of future shows for Paul down the road.

I think this is a great song musically and lyrically. To early to tell if it will become a classic but I believe in time it certainly could.

I always came back to the songs he was singing,
