Not one of my favourites, but 'Press' and 'Only Love Remains' are some of my favourites.

Love it, always have, always will. As i've posted many times it it wasn't for FITD it would be by far his best of the 80's. My third fave of his albums ever, love the songs Good Times Coming/Feel The Sun, Press, Footprints, Stranglehold & It's Not True (single version). People complain about the production.....well I have issues with McC II & POP in that department & for the 80's PTP ain't too bad at all !

I would agree with those who complain about too much production, but I do like some of it. 'Footprints' is a great track. I also like 'Write Away'.

Entirely forgettable other than about 3 tracks. Not Paul's weakest album, but definitely in the bottom 20%.

Love Good Times Comin/Feel the Sun... it has such a Jersey summer feel to me...

Really like its not true, good times coming/feel the sun, only love remains, tough on a tightrope and maybe press but as an album I just can't get into it and it's the only macca album I can't. Nothing to do with production either.

It is a shame that it was not a big hit and it seems the world lost chart interest from here on. I think Only Love Remains is one of his best ballads.

possibly true..with the exception of 1993 'hope of deliverence'.....pauls hasnt had a record that has sold in decent numbers since the early/mid 1980s ..pretty sad really for such an amazing pop hook writer.

The album is quite good.I like it but it have some weak songs like pretty little head
.The best ones are: 1.Footprints 2.Only Love Remains 3.Angry 4.Talk More Talk 5.However absurdIt's getting better all the time

When this album first came out I hated it, sounded too much like the other crappy 80's rock that was all over the airways. Only two or three songs I really liked. Then about 5 or so years ago bought the cd version for those few songs and found I really enjoyed it. The 80's vibe worked in a very retro way. With a better producer and less Phil Collins sounding this could have been a great disc. Maybe we need a Press To Play...Naked version.

I like the "naked version" idea, at least for some of the tracks. It's hard to imagine a track like Pretty Little Head stripped down - it seems written specifically in the style of the time.

"Press to Play" must not be as bad as many think. I went around listening to that cd repeatedly in my Sony Walkman (I know, kind of retro, not an I-Pod) a few years back. If it sounded that awful I wouldn't have done that. I trust my ear for music, pretty much. Of course could live without some of the 1980's "special effects."

Don't really understand the complaints about "too much production" If you don't like 1980s production, fair enough, but it's no more "produced" than 'Ram' or 'Sgt Pepper'. I love the 80s sound on the album, it makes it stand out from the rest of Paul's catalogue, particularly tunes like 'Press', 'Talk More Talk' and 'Good Times Coming'. Even the one weak track, 'Pretty Little Head', is interesting because of the production. Each to their own. But I don't hear people whining about the equally dated production on Paul Simon's 'Graceland', which is a lot less inventive in my opinion (and I'm a Paul Simon fan).

That's because the songs on "Graceland" are so brilliant that they are still great after all these years, no one cares about the production (also there aren't so many "bad special effekts" on 'Graceland' as on 'Press to Play'). On the other hand, not only the production of "Press to Play" is bad, but also imo the songwriting of Paul on this album.
