RIP Henry McCullough (1943-2016)

Very sad to hear this
-
-
So sad. I was wondering how he was doing as I hadn't heard much news since the charity gig that was done for him, was that last year? At least now he is at peace. RIP Henry.
-
So sad to hear the news... His wife must be besides herself
Heard he was the only Irishman to play at Woodstock. May he rest in Peace...
-
Rip Henry and prayers for your family. 2016 has been a very sad year, so many talented people are gone.

http://www.thewrap.com/paul-mccartney-mourns-death-of-wings-guitarist-henry-mccullough/ McCullough can also be heard on the classic Pink Floyd song "Money," muttering, "I don't know; I was really drunk at the time."

MetalGod:
There was that story about Wings in a recording studio, ready to record "My Love" and at Paul's count down, all of a sudden, Henry asked Paul if he can change the guitar solo. Paul calm down then blow up at him for almost ruining the perfect time and atmosphere to record this song and allowed Henry to change the guitar solo. And it was the solo we all hear to this day, especially on PURE McCartney. Anybody else have their story of that moment?

Seems like Paul's twitter and facebook pages are condolence messages about every other post these days.

Sucks getting old.

Rip Henry. His solo made the song My Love a good one.

RIP Henry
-
Heaven just got a lot cooler. Henry made Red Rose Speedway a great sounding album.
-
This may be the roughest year for deaths of famous people I can remember, and we're not even halfway through.
-
So very sorry to hear the sad news.
-
RIP Henry.? Prayers and Love to his family and friends.

I was lucky enough to meet Henry a few years ago after one of his (intimate) gigs in Glenfarg, Perthshire. He happily signed a picture of himself in my copy of the Wingspan book. The first song he played that night was Big Barn Bed. I was also at Paul's gig at the O2 in Dublin in 2009 when Paul gave a shout out to Henry who was in the audience. The spotlight picked him out and he got a nice cheer and round of applause. RIP Henry.

________________________________________________________ Thanks for telling us above. Nice to see that Paul gave him a shoutout at the Dublin 2009 concert. I really hope that it made Henry feel real good inside. That's also a great story about Henry's intimate gig you saw. I always liked Big Barn Bed and it is a great inclusion on the Pure McCartney compilation.
