Paul also talks briefly about the new album and mentions Giles Martin in a new NY Times interview: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/15/a-grammy-winning-formula-for-paul-mccartney-dont-show-up/
Cool interview, thanks for sharing.

It is annoying that he has to taunt us like this. I guess I did ask for some new info on the new album but I think what I or we really meant was "gimme the goddam album now!"...
Great job, loved listening to it. This is one of my all time favorite McCartney songs (On Wings Of A Nightengale), wish he would have kept it for himself and one day officially record it himself. Better yet, would love to hear it in acoustic part of one of his concerts. Thanks for sharing !!!

If it were 2 albums worth then release one late 2013 and the other early 2014. Really I wouldn't mind.

Kind of like "Green Day" - lol

Exactly yankeefan. Release one later this year and the other Feb of 2014 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Beatles performing on Ed Sullivan. Kind of a marketing no brainer to me.

Just read the interview. I really enjoyed it: short, sweet, simple, and insightful. Adding Giles Martin to the already vast lineup of producers only further piques my curiosity for what exactly this album is going to sound like. By the time its released, the catalog information slot for producer(s) may just say "various." Then again, few probably give that much attention anyway when the main artist is Paul McCartney...
-
Flowers had various producers and that one did quite well I think... Looking on Wiki it had almost as many producers as tracks. Still it went number one here. I'd like that to happen again, if only for a week. I doubt it though.
-
Flowers in the Dirt is one of my least favourite Macca albums. I don't really like the idea of Paul working with multiple producers on his new album.

Too many cooks spoil the broth.

Agree. Album could lose sense of direction with several producers. I liked it when he worked with Nigel because I think he needs somebody who is not afraid of "Paul McCartney" the legend and will tell him the truth about his songs.
-
Well, if the little tidbit of the new"Heart of the Country" is representative of his work with Ronson...and of how Paul is sounding now in the studio....then I'm not sure I even want an album from him. His voice sounds totally shot!

It's not that critical. Regarding the "Heart Of The Country" remake, Paul, unfortunately, came up with a not-so-great melody (which barely is a melody, I'm sad to say) and sang it in a totally different key. Other than the lyrics, it's an entirely different song. I like the spirit and attitude of the new version, but it could've been much better. Still, we fans know that Paul works impulsively and doesn't like to over-think certain projects. This is only a quick, somewhat whimsical updating of a classic; Paul wasn't setting out to improve upon the original. And here's the better news: The 12.12.12 gig + my personal attendance at the St. Louis concert last November have given me blessed assurance that the man can still sing -- and sing well.

I agree, however I love FITD,but he had the songs , Mr.MacManus to keep him in check & the voice in those days to pull it off. Most of this albums delay is apparently down to dodgy vocals & his attempt to try & get them sounding half decent.

Gees, what an incredible amount of negativity over an album none of you has heard yet. I like his voice at 70. I'm not expecting him to sound in 2013 like he did in 1976 or 1995. If you don't like his voice as it is -- right now -- I don't see why you're even here talking about this album or why you would even consider buying it. Really there is absolutely no reason -- artistically or financially -- for Paul to rush out with his next album. And that's why he hasn't rushed it out. He's taking his time -- just like pretty much every older artist is doing these days. And it's intriguing to me that Paul is working with four such different and well respected producers.

As far as the title of the album, I think it should be called 'FOURever!' Cause it is taking forever!

I think i have the right to discuss the album even though i dont look at things with rose tinted glasses. The reports about the delays being due to " vocal issues " might be a load of rubbish, i dont know, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was true. The last two studio albums to my ears have lots of below par vocal issues, and don't get me started on the live show's. And I didn't buy his last album, as in every respect bar one song ...My valentine it was cack, the first time in 30+ years I made that decision, so by my actions alone UK sales were down 20 %. The one area in which i have yet to detect things going t**s up, is in the songwriting dept. So i will proberly get this one on day of release as i have done scince God knows when & enjoy it no doubt.

I liked his voice on Chaos and Creation and on Electric Arguments. I don't like MAF all that much. And I thought Paul's standards album was really well done. But then I like that sort of music and I thought he chose good songs and sang them well.

IMO - thought he sounded pretty good on MAF, especially "House of Wax".
