Last night at Paul McCartney's Melbourne show at AAMI PARK I was physically assaulted because I wanted to stand and dance. Paul McCartney is on my bucket list of artists I want to see live before I (or they die) and I was very happy to tick him off.

However, I wanted to stand and dance in my seat. The people behind me did not even ask nicely. I had no idea the people wanted me to sit down until they were physically punching me in my lower back and putting hands on both my shoulders to shove me down. I have been to so many concerts and I have never been to one where I have to sit down the entire time, but also - when it came to Queen + Adam Lambert and Adele, or any other concert I've been to; I stand up during the up beat songs I like and dance - and I sit down during the slow ones.

I ended up going to the foyer and crying for a good half an hour because all the other sections people were standing and dancing but I wasn't allowed to.

I am thankful I am going again tonight so I can watch the songs that I missed out on.

But I am frightened I am going to deal with the same backlash I did last night. I have been to so many concerts at your venues and have never experienced this before in my life.

Any help would be much appreciated. I don't care how close I am, I just want to sing along and dance to an artist that I never thought I'd be able to tick of my bucket list.

I'm heartbroken. I just wanted to dance and sing.

One of the many reasons seats just aren’t the way to go at a rock concert. It’s really the worst.

I was lucky last night in Melbourne, and everyone in the front section stood up and danced the whole gig (except ‘My Valentine’). I’m sad to hear all this, since I was so happy everyone stood up and danced as far as I could see, even at the very back.  But in Perth it sucked the atmosphere out of the room, as expected from seated gigs. My partner got told to sit down during anything from ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ to ‘Helter Skelter’. It was a very interesting situation. The crew went around to make sure everyone sat down... We ignored it all, and I saw a few bottles flying around, but that was it. To clarify, we were on the floor, go figure. Especially that whole impressive opening combo of AHDN, into JF, into CBML, into LG, into AML... one of the best openings I’ve ever seen (in Melbourne), but in Perth it just went to waste with people being more occupied with whether they wanted to stand up or sit, and whether they wanted the people in their section to stand or sit, that it went by like I watched a DVD from the couch.. It was like I was in the cinema instead of a rock gig.

I hope you get to enjoy the show tonight instead of having to worry about abusive concert goers, and that the crew is more helpful, and that you will be with some people.

Surprised that Wonderful Christmastime hasn't made its way into the set yet. I guess it's the dead of summer in Australia, but they still celebrate Christmas on 12/25 as far as I know. I wonder if it'll be played this leg, maybe as we get closer to Christmas, such as Sydney/Auckland

Night 2 about to start. For which songs he rotates tonight, you know where to find it, @setlistpeeker.

                    Once again unforgettable.

Rotations: ‘Save Us’ instead of ‘Junior’s Farm’, ‘Jet’ instead of ‘Letting Go’, ‘Drive My Car’ instead of ‘All My Loving’, ‘We Can Work It Out’ instead of ‘I’ve Just Seen A Face’, ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ instead of ‘Birthday’. Then, McCartney signed the bass drum of the ‘Mull’ pipe band.

Earlier Brian Riddle got them together to watch in front of the barrier.  Vocals were really worrisome in the beginning.

That's horrible, I'm so sorry to hear this. If it happens again (and I hope it doesn't) maybe report it to security? I experienced the same treatment at one of my first Paul shows years and years ago. A group of men harassed me and my friend for standing but luckily a nice group of people were nearby and told them to stop.

Good luck at your next show and have so much fun!

Got great footage from Perth and Melbourne's first night coming up, but let's first get Melbourne night 2 out of the way:

Went to the floor later on, wish I made that move earlier, but for 45 euros you can't complain, just wanted to be inside the house for the rotation songs after the great view in the days before.

Vocally... he became stable from the acoustic part on, but with all these songs in a higher register in the beginning I really began to worry at first. Even 'Save Us' got played at slow speed to be able to get all the quick notes out:

The thing is, I was there and I don't remember that. You get such a different experience watching the videos afterwards. In the years I've been on this board (okay, it's only about 5 but still...), the conversation about his voice has been pretty much the same. The thing I kept hearing was 'Yes, he's gotten very shaky and can't even sing as well as he could 5 years ago but you really don't notice it when you're there.'

I always thought that couldn't be right but it held up. I only noticed the shakiness once or twice and it wasn't on the quiet numbers where you could really hear his voice warts and all. The verses of Maybe I'm Amazed are always going to be shaky. That's a damn impossible song for most men to sing. I did notice a bit of an issue with New on the second night, though. Just a couple of moments that were a bit 'Ooh, that wasn't quite right.'

Oh, I just want to add something about the shows in general. I was expecting a double encore so that was a surprise but I nearly had a heart attack when he went straight into Sgt. Pepper's after Yesterday. I thought that was going to be the end of the show.

I totally agree with you. It's a whole different experience when you are sitting in the stands of the sports area...haha.  I'm glad that you enjoyed the shows!

Even 'Save Us' got played at slow speed to be able to get all the quick notes out:

ooo...that beginning of Jet is really shakey. Great video as usual...thanks.

Ah, that’s how. You can’t do that on an iPad. (You can’t drag across the link, highlight it, copy and paste it like on a laptop or PC) You can copy and paste only from the direct URL . So I just go to the website and copy and paste the link. Yes, you could also use that Link button, but that’s more steps.
