      BOYCIE:

      wingsdgm:

The vocals are up front which takes a liitle getting used too..but What I dont like is the sound goes up and down ...almost sounds like a radio speaker..maybe it's my tv old as it is cool book nice extras

On the Steve Hoffman forum there's a few others who've commented on the sound issues, it seems that the DVD and the Blu-Ray have the bass signal dropping in and out on both the stereo and 5.1 mixes. I must admit i noticed it when i listened to the 5.1 DTS mix today, very odd indeed, at first i thought my Subwoofer was on the blink, but it seems it's how it's mastered.

Thanks for the Help...I Do Love it and I think I saw me as a teen @ Kingdome .still looking

Thanks to Amazon I've just received my blu-ray copy of Rockshow....or rather I've just received a copy of Rockshow [DVD] [2013] [NTSC] with a blu-ray sticker on the sealed cover. Hmmm.....that's not exactly the same thing guys? :

They you need to send it back ASAP! My local shop had both the DVD and Blu-Ray so it does exist

Amazon have both formats too but I guess the packer saw the blu-ray sticker on the case and just assumed it was the right format. Anyway, I'm now in the process of arranging its return......as cheaply as possible.

I just got the Blue Ray yesterday and I love it. Saw in the theater and it was a huge disappointment. The blue ray blows what I saw in the theater completely away. I didn't have any trouble with the picture fluttering (or whatever was said), and no issues with the bass dropping out. I can be very critical of things like that, and I was when I saw it in the cinema, but no such problems with my blue ray copy. And jeez, Denny f'n Laine, man, what a BAD-ASS! Love it...

          Love,
          Chad

I haven't had any problems with the sound on my Blu-ray Rockshow disc, but I also don't have a fancy audio setup for the player. As I mention in my review, I did notice the grainy picture at times (or as I called it "snowy") due to the dark lighting. But still, it's great to have Rockshow available officially after 32 years or so of it being out of print. There was one camera in use in front of stage that was used for close up shots of Paul which does allow blu-ray technology to demonstrate its superior picture quality. But the other cameras were so restricted by the poor lighting conditions that all blu-ray does is to highlight the grainy and phased images.

The Bluray sounds better than the Wings Over America CDs by far. The overall sound kicks ass. Not a dropout or audio problem anywhere. This remaster makes a great movie fantastic! Nice little picture book too. Well done MPL!

The remastered CDs sound better than the Blu-ray by far! The Blu-ray's sound doesn't have the booming bass that the CDs have, and you can hear the background singing much better on the CDs.

I guess it's a matter of taste, but on the DVD the bass finally doesn't sound like a big flabby rubber band any more, but like a ... bass. Much better in my opinion. Quieter in the mix, but deeper in sound. Overall a crisper and better balance on the DVD than on the CDs - you can hear the details of the drums!

Bass never ever sounded like a rubber band to me, but a big booming rock bass, the way McCartney should sound! I've always thought that on most of McCartney's albums his bass is too far back in the mix. The remastered CDs sound just right. When I reviewed the CDs, one of the things I said was that you can hear the drum playing much better, I even heard fills and rolls that I had never really paid attention to before, and you really hear the crash of the cymbols. It's the CDs for me!

I just posted this in the other thread too... side by side conparison:

Published on Jun 27, 2013 Here we have the new Blu-ray of Rockshow side by side with a version from the McCartney Years DVD. The images and sounds are very different. I like the resolution of the Blu-ray, but the McCartney Years has much better audio( background vocals) and actually sounds like you are at a Wings concert. Please note: when the picture is highlighted, that is the souce of the audio. Bass drop-outs: two good examples of the defective audio on the Blu-ray, check out 4:09 and 4:23. There are many, but this should give you an example.

The McCartney Years has better picture too IMO, not so pale and washed out.

I like how Paul plays music on it, thats exactly how I hoped it would be! I like the bit with Nilsson and Ringo, photographed here by me, off the computer http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=72837&start=120

Maybe Paul had the backing vocals "buried" purposely.
