According to this webpage, it seems numerous tracks from the Tug Of War sessions were actually recorded at McCartney's farm near Machrihanish http//www.jpgr.co.uk/pctc259.html I'd always thought the album was recorded in Montserrat and London, so I'm interested to hear this. Can anyone confirm?

Denny is on Guitar for at least a few songs too and Bass for Wanderlust, I think that was at Air studios before John was killed I think Rainclouds is the last Wings song with Denny on vocals. Did he think of going out with Linda, Denny and Dave Mattacks as Wings? When did Eric Stewart arrive on the scene? How did they meet? Whats the score with them now? Did they get pissed because Eric wasn't allowed to produce Press To Play?

I could swear Denny sings backing on 'Average Person' from Pipes Of Peace, but the problem is that there are no individual sleeve credits for each track.

Weren't they recorded during the same sessions as Tug?

Maybe they met in the mid 70's? Paul recorded some stuff at Strawberry Studios..I think, or produced someone who recorded there. Eric and Paul has a falling out I believe. And Phil Collins pleaded with Paul to let him produce Press To Play. Thank God THAT never happened...

No one of the songs was recorded in Scotland, except for demos. The TUG OF WAR album was recorded at AIR Studios (both Montserrat and London) with overdubs for EBONY ND IVORY at Strawberry Studios in Stockport. AVERAGE PERSON was recorded in Monsterrat with Ringo on drums. Info taken from various sources and included in my upcoming book on McCartney's sessions: italian version is already available- PAUL McCARTNEY:RECORDING SESSIONS (1969-2011)

Very much appreciated! And, incidentally, I must gripe a bit about the '97 Concert For Montserrat: I wonder why Paul didn't do any of the Tug Of War songs that night. Heck, even Carl Perkins was there that night; a live version of "Get It" would've been a sweet thing to see and hear.

I Think Eric Stewart met Macca in 1974 when Paul and his brother were recording the "McGear" album in 10cc's Strawberry Studios...don't think they met before but its possible as he was in the big 60's band The Mindbenders. Also think they fell out whilst Paul was married to Heather - according to that awful "Fab" book about him, Eric wrote to Paul and rang him to warn him off her..but didn't get a reply... It's a shame that "Press to play" didn't turn out better as it would have been great to have seen Eric as part of his touring band 89-93....oh well!

I just checked my archive and I have Paul, Linda and Eric Stewart's autographs on Strawberry Studios letterhead. The signatures would seem to be from the 80/81 period.

Laine last played in the studio with Paul in Monserrat in Feb 81. Back in London, he quit. Songs in PIPES OF PEACE with Denny (AVERAGE PERSON, KEEP UNDER COVER and possibly HEY HEY) were recorded between dec 80 and feb 81. Dave Mattacks was in Montserrat too for around a week. No Wings involvement for him. Eric Stewart came on the scene in March 81 or a little bit later when Paul started overdub sessions on TUF OG WAR. For sure they met in 1974 or earlier.
