Have you met Paul? And how?
-
I have never met Paul but twice (2010 and 2014), my wife and I waited outside a venue in Salt Lake City for his arrival in a car. Both times, he rolled the window down and said hello to all us fans lined up. The first time in 2010 it was scorching hot outside and my wife was not thrilled with me making us wait a couple of hours for his arrival. But when he arrived and we saw him up close in a car and he said hello it was absolutely thrilling. Thus, in 2014, she was glad to stand in line and once again thrilled to see him so close. Those two fleeting moments were among the favorite of my life to be honest. I did talk to his security guy Scottie both times, nice chap.
Then in 2005 in Portland, my wife, mother, and I had tickets on the side of the stage in a small section (maybe 150 people in the section). When the concert ended, the crowd cleared out. We waited and Paul had gone down to the side of the stage with his guitar guy/roadie (John Hammel). Paul looked up to our section and waved, the three of us waved back. I looked behind me and our entire section was gone except for us so Paul waved to us. We all realized that Paul had waved directly to us and that was a funny feeling. That was a quite a moment and it still gives me goosebumps to describe it.
I often think about meeting him and what I would say. I imagine seeing him in Yellowstone or the Idaho wilderness where my expertise in that area could lead me to have a discussion with him. Perhaps, I could take him on a hike? (ha). I will likely never meet him but the three moments that I just described were pretty darn cool.

Meeting Paul and just giving him a hug is on my Bucket List. Barring a miracle, I fear it will never happen. Tried with different signs to get onstage 4 times with no luck. Closest I came was in 2013 when he was reading all our signs during soundcheck (to himself) and he read mine (I could tell he was looking at it and reading it) and he said "Oh!" My sign was made (professionally) by oobu24 for me and it said "My doctor played your music during my brain surgery. HUG?" She even put a caracature of a doctor on it! He didn't call anyone up then or later at the concert.
P.S. My neurosurgeon was a big Beatles/Paul fan and he would ask me to get tickets to Paul's concerts (and other concerts) for him and he'd pay me back. Sometimes he'd pay for my ticket, like the $100 Eagles ticket (got us great floor seats in about 15th row) Anyway, when he removed my benign meningioma tumor they told me he said "I dub thee Yoko!"
I was an O.R. nurse and frequently circulated (was the RN in the room) his cases. He would always play Beatles music just for me, so of course I asked him to do so for MY surgery!

I've never met Paul in person (most likely never will, but I guess you never know eh?) but I did walk by him once when he was in town while I was running an errand on my lunch. I didn't say anything to him, just kept going, but as I got back to the office I kept asking myself if that really had just happened.

Where was this and when?!

It's beautiful what you say. It sounds so magical to meet Mr. McCartney.

It was 2013 I'm pretty sure! (he was back in town again almost exactly a year later so sometimes I second guess myself on the year!) in the Bay Area.

You mean San Francisco? If I ever thought I saw Paul I would have to stop and say hi. Then I'd have "Met Paul McCartney" and the date & place tattooed somewhere on my body!

Crowded city sidewalk, I didn't want to draw attention to him by stopping him even just to say hi.
I do wonder though how many others recognized him that day!

He's probably had an easier time of not being recognized as of late because of wearing masks!

I met Paul once at a booksigning in New York, where I also got his autograph. I had to wait in line for 33 hours but it was worth it, al 8 seconds
I twice did a high five with him, waiting at the artist entrance of a venue.
First time (Madison Square Garden) was with my right hand, the second time (Millenium Stadium, Cardiff) was with my left hand
And I once got very close.... being backstage for an interview that unfortunatelly did not happen. But we met the 2003 band, got autographs AND we got to listen to the soundcheck!
