Is Turned Out actually the best upbeat song on New?
-
I think it's pretty underrated little bop, but it actually grew on me the most out of all the upbeat songs on the album. It turned out to be my fave.

"Turned Out" did not have to grow on me - I was singing along to it right away. Another of Paul's catchy little tunes

Loved it instantly, baffling it didn't make the proper album, although style-wise it might have not fitted. It's probably his final really good vocal on record.

This song and "I Can Bet" very infectious. Two of my faves from that session. Should've been on the album proper. And having just had another Melbourne Cup horse race meeting today, I can certainly attest to the song "I Can Bet"

Turned Out sounds very Wings to me ...and that's ok

Turned Out is one awesome Wings tune. After Queenie Eye, my favorite NEW tune! Would have been a great song to end this album with, instead of the average Road.

________________________________________________________ I agree. Turned Out also sounds very Willbury's/Harrison type song to me. You could almost do a complete album of Paul songs that sound like he was trying to emulate George.

Just heard it for the first time and found it very pleasing, even on first listening...now want to hear it more, and hear if it grows on me further

Agreed. Those were my two favorite songs off the album. Examples of McCartney putting out effortless material when he isn't trying so hard. Liked these songs much better than the clunky "Queenie Eye", the tuneless "Everybody Out There" and the forgettable "Save Us".
