I always felt that Paul and Clapton should form a band in the 70's, maybe with Laine, English and Linda. I love Jimmy's style but don't you think that Paul and Eric are very similar as musicians? maybe Eric has more blues influences, but he has a great passion for melodies and sweet songs.

Eric collaborated in the 70's with George, Ringo and John, in studio and live. He was a superstar and he wouldn't think to be a sideman in band of an ex-Beatle. I think even Paul was very shy to ask him to join him on stage up until George's death. but I am with the idea that Eric should join Paul more often nowadays. because Paul obviously respect Eric talent and history. being together will bring the best of Paul once again. he needs this challenge.

Eric was such close friends with George, that may have gotten in the way of anything developing with Paul in the 70's, particularly when he was forming Wings so soon after The Beatles broke up and there were still a lot of bad feelings. Also, it would have been seen as another "supergroup", and that is something I don't think Eric would have wanted to do at that time. I know Paul didn't.

But there wasn't any collaboration after While my guitar gently weeps, right? I mean Paul and Eric in a studio making new music. It would be amazing to hear Eric's guitar in albums like McCartney or Ram. He made a lot of collaborations with Gilmour in the 80's... Eric would be his own Gilmour in the early 70's
