Anyone else think this could have been an amazing track if recorded in the studio? I was listening to the One Hand Clapping yesterday, and what a song, anyone know why it was discarded? It was a feature of the live shows, anyone shed any light? Gary

I'm thinking it was recorded in a studio. Sure I heard a studio version somewhere.

McCartney's take on 70s rock. It's quite bombastic.

Not the most melodic offering in his song book, but I'll take it every time for pure vocal power.

Yep. there's an outtake or two floating around:

I think it is a cool song. Too bad he abandoned it after the '76 tour.

The lived under the stage? Yet ANOTHER unfinished/unreleased/aborted McCartney project. And there's more than a few of them... Those early 70's concert snippets that were sprinkled throughout the McCartney special of 1986 were interesting.

All the more reason why Red Rose Speedway should be the next Deluxe release?

Studio version on the new Venus and Mars reissue. Sounds spectacular!! Can you imagine if Soily and Juniors Farm were placed on V and M instead of Ancient Egypt and You Gave Me The Answer??? Still ticks me off.

Soily on VM reissue. That's odd. The song dates back to circa '72.

I like You Gave Me the Answer. Provides variety/diversity. Remove Medicine Jar and add the other two... an extra song won't "over-pad" the album, especially when there is a reprise and an ode to an English soap opera.

You Gave Me The Answer? A must for terpsichory! Medicine Jar rocks! Spirits has not aged well. I could do without that. Medicine Jar is up there with my favourite Wings (non Paul sung) tracks. ...if only the album didn't end up sounding so tinny and compressed.

Paul made ME look it up back in 1975! It appeared on the lyrics...for a long while I thought it meant "instrumental break" or "solo." The things that stick in yer head...

Me too. Remember prior to the Up and Coming Tour (I think it was) rumours around it was going to be in the setlist? I think there was a photo of Paul at rehearsals and the song title or word "magneto" appeared on a screen in the shot with him. Alas...(insert Victor Spinetti quote from HELP!)

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both of those songs are great -- and at least as good as Soily and Junior's Farm (which should have been on an album sometime, but not V&M)
