Ticket-purchasing advice
-
Hi, I'm going to see Paul on June 8th at the Barclays Center. Since I lost my only child Kate, my husband told me to go for the best seats. When I tried to get through during the pre sale I was unable to get through. I know a lot of people had the same problem. Since I wasn't sure what to do I just picked a ticket broker from the phone book. I got two seats in section 17 and paid $900 with all the fees they charge. Sorry to make this so long but does anyone know how to get seats within maybe the first three rows near center if Paul tours again. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Kathy.

You can purchase VIP tickets for $1500-2000 which also include a soundcheck invitation. My condolences for your loss and I hope you enjoy the show.

Don't go thru Paul's website--it always gets overloaded and you can't get thru. I used Ticketmaster during the presale (you just have to be a registered member of pm.com like you are already) and I got 4th row center Hot Sound Package. If you don't want to spend $1500, you can just get the Gold Ticket and get further back or more to the sides.

Never paid more than 100-150 euro for those few non-general admission gigs I did: row 1, row 4 and row 6. All centre/at the aisle. It's down to having your tickets booking game lockdown.

That's all well & good, but Paul doesn't do things that way in the states. You can't get row 1 or rows 3-8 front & center unless you pay either $2000 or $1500 for the Hot Sound package.

Not entirely true. MOST of those seats seem to be tied up in expensive packages, but NOT all of them. I had a pair of 2nd row floor seats in Orlando (F1, row B). Regular $250 price (purchased via the PaulMcCartney.com/Crowdsurge presale). It wasn't dead center, but it wasn't all the way over to the extreme side either. Kinda between.... Left-center. And in 2010, I purchased a 4th row dead center ticket for Miami on Ticketmaster. (via the AMEX presale). Also regular $250 price. (Albeit only a single seat that time.... I tend to notice that if you're willing to go solo, you can often find much better single seats, than if you need two or more together.)

Agreed! I got row 2 for this tour for the Winnipeg concert. First off I got row 18 immediately after the tickets went on sale. I went back in later that morning "just to see" how sales were going and was provided row 2 one section from centre stage. How could I say no to those even though I had two seats already. Snapped them up and sold the row 18 seats to family. The thing that gets me with the sales though, even during the sales StubHub had the same section, same row seats listed, no fewer than 20 seats in total listed for sale in that row and section. I doubt there's more than 30-35 seats in that row. How is it possible for those to be purchased randomly by a reseller? Seems quite odd and smells foul for any true fans looking to get a good seat. I think this very reason is why you see so many negative posts about the presales. Something is definitely NOT right with them.

Veggieburger, Thank you for the condolences on the loss of my daughter. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. My Kate and I both like/liked Dance Tonight, so I played that at her wake. Maybe some people thought it was crazy to play a song like that but it was special to me and my daughter. Thanks to everyone else who replied. I really thought I would be able to get good seats through the pre-sale and without having to buy one of those packages. I'm wondering, we have a Ticketmaster near us, if I could have gone there and gotten close seats. Too late now, maybe next time, but I'm not sure if they sell tickets for the good seats. Maybe next time, as long as Paul doesn't give up touring.

Okay, I see what you mean (if you go solo) I should have said you "usually" can't get ... There was a guy behind me (he was 5th row) in Memphis who got his (one) seat late in the game for regular price ($250) even though it was originally a Hot Sound seat. They apparently lowered the price when the concert date got close.

It's a gamble, though. Not a good gamble if you are traveling from out of town. I have a friend who got a second row ticket night of concert. But you can't be across the country and do that.

My experience with Ticketmaster in NY is that they seem to encourage panic buying with the top-shelf acts. I logged on at the exact second tickets for Barclay's on June 8th went on sale, selected "best available" and got the "your selection is not available" message. I finally brought up side stage section 28 $350 seats and pulled the trigger. Since then, better seats have popped up, despite the "quantity limited " disclaimer that's been there for 3 weeks or so. Stub Hub has tickets in my section for $120 cheaper than what I paid. I know that Paul uses the video screen extensively so I'm kicking myself for jumping the gun (but still excited to see him from whatever location).

Ralph, I always get myself worked up into a panic when buying tickets to see Paul. You never know if you're going to get through, for example how the presale for the shows at Barclays got messed up. Wish there was a better way. Even though I'm disappointed that I didn't get great seats I'm excited to see him also, and I'm sure we'll all enjoy the show.

Thanks everyone!

Just remember that if you get the 'no seats available' message that it is probably because so many people are pulling tickets at the same time. They aren't necessarily buying what they pull, just looking, releasing them and trying for better ones. But since they are temporarily out of the 'pool' of tickets, they become temporarily 'unavailable'. The best tickets I've ever gotten, I got about an hour after the pre-sale began. Best advice is, DON'T QUIT! Even this evening there will be tickets available; also a few days before the show more are usually released that the artist had held but didn't use. Good luck everyone!

I'm going to try to get tickets for the show at Nassau Colisseum that go on sale Monday. If I can't get them through the pre-sale, what's the best place to purchase tickets. I've used Stub-Hub in the past, but the fees were so high.
-
I was also wondering if anyone has purchased tickets directly from the website where Paul is playing, like the Nassau Coliseum where I hope to go? Do they charge more?

Have you seen this thread: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=92401 Maybe you can ask questions there.

I've asked there, hopefully someone will reply. Thanks.
