New McCartney song on film soundtrack

Am I the ONLY person here who has bought the "Ethel & Ernest" CD? It is actually quite delightful. Most of the songs on it are from the '30s and '40s, almost all British singers and bands. Of course, if you're not a fan of "delightful," look elsewhere. Yes, "In The Blink Of An Eye" is not exactly a classic, in my opinion. I agree that it sounds a lot like "The End Of The End." I'm not happy with the way Paul's voice sounds live these days, but I've gotten used to it on his recent recordings. There's really not much choice but to accept it or move on to some other artist, I suppose. I do think his current voice is appropriate for conveying sadness or regret or poignancy, for what it's worth. I happen to love "Scared." Someone noted that the working title of the song was "Mum and Dad" and wondered if it was written about Paul's own parents. I doubt it. The movie is about the artist Raymond Briggs's parents--how they met and made a life together, surviving the war and raising a child--so I assume Paul was just thinking it was a theme for the characters in the movie. Briggs is perhaps best known for his illustrated children's book "The Snowman." I bought the CD because it seemed to be the only way to have a physical copy of the song, and I strive for that wherever I can. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked the whole thing so much, aside from the brief Carl Davis instrumentals, which are just adequate. It is nice to have a fresh interpretation of "Walking In The Park With Eloise," though.
I downloaded it and I like it very much, I really enjoy music from that era. The new Walking in the Park with Eloise was a big surprise. Want to see this is it on DVD or ITV 4? Have been working a lot, need to track this down. I really like In the Blink of an Eye. Thought it fit really well on this CD. I intend to get a hard copy of the CD or hopefully a DVD of this.

I think the Film is still on BBC IPlayer, if not it is indeed out on DVD/Bluray. I enjoyed it, sentimental and touching as it was these life story films tend to get me where they intend to. Worth checking out.

I've heard the song, but not the rest of the soundtrack. All this talk about Walking in the Park With Eloise makes me want to, though.

It's an interesting film about an England that seems very, very, very, very far away; not just in time but in tolerance and maturity.

Thank you Perry, hopefully it's still on BBC IPlayer, I'd like to watch it. This era has been so well done, on British TV, I look forward to watching it! Am currently watching Grantchester from that era.

Finally got to see Ethel and Ernest... it was so well done!! It was so beautifully animated. Really nice to see an earlier England and you got an appreciation for the things the Brits had to deal with in the war, sending your children away to the country and having air raid shelters. It must have been dreadful. It made me realize how the British endure and soldier on. The great charms of England were also quite evident, the row homes, the gardens, the banners across the streets, the children's uniforms...all those those things that are endearing to England. A loving home to grow up in. I really loved the joie de vivre of the dad Ernest.. YIPPEE...he was so much fun and a great dad. The Mom Ethel was a good mother, who was so proud of her son... It was a beautiful family story, told with loving memories. The music was excellent too. Still surprised at the different version of Walking in the park with Eloise, sweet! And then Paul's song at the end was the perfect ending to a lovely story told. Very sentimental and nostalgic. I hear the DVD is only region 2!! Hope they put out one for the US as well. Makes me want to move there, to a little town with beautiful churches, steeped with history and banners regularly put up and flapping in the breezes!!

It sounds like I need to check this out whenever I see a bootleg DVD somewhere.

They did play the end credits... I listened to Paul's song to the end, it's still on British iTV I believe. Missed the reference to Jim Mac's Band while watching, saw the still shots from some earlier links.

I love Paul McCartney as much as I love breakfast, Autumn in New England and puppy kisses.....which is why it has become increasingly difficult to hear his voice on newer studio recorded songs, never mind in concert. Paul McCartney will be 75 years old this year. 75! Yet, he still works like a man half that age between concert tours, recording, film projects, MPL, and re acquiring his Northern Songs Catalog. Plus he has a young daughter. Busy, busy, busy. Frank Sinatra, who was also experiencing severe vocal trouble, held his last concert at the age of 80. I saw him a few years before that, and I regret going because both his voice and cognitive were on a noticeable downturn. On the other hand, Tony Bennett is 90 and still sounds fantastic while remaining sharp as a button. I recently saw Bad Company with Joe Walsh at The Forum in LA (Ringo showed up too!) and Paul Rodgers has an ASTONISHING voice at age 67. Maybe luck of the draw. Maybe he just knows how to maintain his voice. However, neither Frank nor Tony perform marathon 2 hour + concerts where they have to sing extremely challenging songs that they first sang in their 20's. My point is....I appreciate and am grateful that Paul is still putting out new music, but he may be hitting a subconscious wall by not being honest with himself regarding his vocal abilities. This isn'y helped by maintaining an "Emperor's New Clothes" mentality in his bubble. I imagine that if Paul McCarney had John Lennon listen to "In The Blink of An Eye" he would have been very honest. Who else besides John could do that? So....in 2017 Donald Trump is President, England has left the European Union, and most shocking of all: Ringo Starr has a stronger singing voice than Paul McCartney.

Say what!? Are you sure about that? : Here's a simple explanation that might help:
