Sorry, but I never saw the appeal of solo Paul Simon. Loved all his stuff with Art Garfunkel though.

Would I be taking things too literally to nominate?: Abbey Road The White Album Sergeant Peppers Probably. pre-1980: Band on The Run Venus and Mars (prefer listening to this this than Band on the Run, although Band on the Run is a better 'complete' album) Ram/Back to the Egg (Ram a better balanced album but I love listening to the rawness of that egg) solo: Tug of War By a mile and then: Well then it becomes a choice between the best and my favorite. They are different.
Well, what are they? Flaming Pie has to be one of them!
Well, Nancy, this is a difficult one to answer.... Flaming Pie will be there.... have a very special fondness for that album..... and it did get me into Abbey Road studios!.... but a great album.... love Beautiful Night..... Chaos and Creation is perhaps one of the best albums he has released, but not one my favourites... I find it too dark, and I'm a simplistic man who likes an album which is a balance of rock-pop-ballads.... At the time I really loved New but in retrospect may have overrated it.... but maybe not... notice my indecision?..... when it comes to "favourites", I still go back to my days of listening to an album on repeat and repeat (and repeat).... and this album is nowhere near his best, but I cannot help but have fondness for.... Press to Play..... at the time I listened to it non-stop, bought it on album, cassette and this new thing called CD..... it is nowhere near his best... but it is one of my "favorites"..... even with the ordinary Pretty Little Head on it....
_________________________________________________ Toris, I understand what you mean. Best vs. Favorite...there is a difference Your Press to Play is a great example for me as well. While it isn't one of his best "Solo" albums I do play it as often (or maybe more) than a couple of others that have more great songs on it. I guess it is how the songs flow and as you say, the mix of song styles. Press to Play certainly has that and for the most part I don't mind the 80's production. For most songs, the production is done tastefully. I love songs like Stranglehold, Good Times Coming, Footprints, Only Love Remains, Move Over Busker, Write Away, Tough on a Tightrope etc. Wouldn't necessarily put any of the songs in Paul's Top 20 Solo List but they are favorites of mine and very diverse in styles.

Memory Almost Full is his masterpiece for me. There's just something about Ever Present Past that makes you appreciate things.

Solo Paul Simon is vastly more interesting than Simon and Garfunkel. He was a baby songwriter when he and Art were together.

We agree to disagree. Sound Of Silence and Bridge Over Troubled Water were masterpieces, imo. https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/09/the-15-best-simon-garfunkel-songs.html

Have seen Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle seperately and really enjoyed each show. Hope that I get to see them play together some day. The Paul Simon show was very mind blowing, I was very surprised. A favorite Paul Simon Song

A beautiful Art Garfunkel songIn interviews for the release of "Stranger to Stranger" last year (a truly outstanding album if you haven't heard it), Simon was pretty clear that he never wants to work with Garfunkel again. Things have changed before, but this time he sounded as definitive as one can. But we do seem to have strayed a bit off topic here.

Never say never, Steve Perry showed up for Journeys induction to the R&R Hall of fame, the Eagles were never going to play together again twice , countless others... My glass is usually half full... There is always a possibility of many unexpected things in life... If you keep an open mind. I have a long list of bands that I'm expecting to get back together Bruce so far I've managed to see a few get together too. 3 favorite albums... RAM Wild Life Rushes

N'Sync even reunited for a one-off! Can't remember what 3 I said before, but today they are: Ram Band On The Run Flaming Pie

Those are great songs. Art always brought something to the party. But as a songwriter, Paul only gets better with age.
