The Songs He Gave Away.

Also, no other songs the guys gave away appear on the Anthology, so maybe they wanted to focus just on Beatle songs?
No, "That Means A Lot" is on the Anthology.
As are "Like Dreamers Do", "Come And Get It" and "Step Inside Love".
And you've no idea either why "Goodbye" isn't as well then, Liz?
Hmmm...the mystery deepens... I wonder if it was a licensing thing, then, with Mary Hopkins' people? Or maybe, because "Goodbye" features only Paul on an acoustic guitar, they only wanted "give away" songs that featured multiple, if not all of, the Beatles? But "Come and Get It" is only Paul, as well...so maybe they didn't want more than one song that featured only one Beatle? So confusing...if they were going to have a song featuring Paul only, I'd hope it would be "Goodbye" which is superior to "CAGI", but I wonder if "CAGI" did better on the charts?

I'm going to keep beating this drum, but "Goodbye," Paul's version, has got to be one of the most gorgeous songs and vocals I've ever heard. Hands down. Or one hand clapping.
"Goodbye" should have been on the McCartney album. Thematically & musically, it fits as the album closer!
Yes, as long as he changed all the "he's" "his's" and "him's" to "she" and "her"

Goodbye (which Paul gave credit to Lennon for also writing!): UK - #2 US - #13 P.S. The only reason it did not make #1 in the UK was because Get Back sat there so long! Come and Get It (credited only to Paul): UK - #4 US - #7

I think I remember reading somewhere that George objected to having "Come & Get It" on Anthology as it was never intended to be a Beatles song. It was written by Paul specifically for the Magic Christian movie. Maybe, that is why "Goodbye" is not on Anthology. George objected as it was never intended to be a Beatles song. Still, Paul should have put it on his 1970 debut!! Its a travesty that most have never heard the song. Yes, MH's version was popular in 1969, but seriously, does it ever get played on the radio today?!?

Paul should release his version of it now, on that b-sides and rarities album that David M. is working on.

Well, how many of Paul's solo-songs are on the radio today either? Only a few massive hits, but surely not a last track on an album of 1970. But it would be indeed more famous, if it was on an official album.

Paul talks about the songs they gave away a little bit in this interview (can't remember if it's in part 1 or 2) Part 1 has the hysterical question and answer from Paul about Day Tripper and Norwegian Wood, and John's answer as to what Eleanor Rigby is about!
