IS IT BETTER TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER THAN TO GO FOR A WALK IN THE DARK? IS IT BETTER TO LOVE THAN TO GIVE IN TO HATE? YEAH, WE'D BETTER TAKE GOOD CARE OF EACH OTHER, AVOID SLIPPING BACK OFF THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW, IT'S BETTER BY FAR THAN GETTING STUCK IN A FIGURE OF EIGHT.

Figure Of Eight seems to divide opinion, but i think the song and recording are great, especially the part of the song your lyrical quote comes from, it's lovely.

There are too many to count them all. Paul often gets criticized for his "cheesy" or "light" lyrics, but many of them are simple, but have a great message. One of my favorites is "This One": "Did I ever open up my heart and let you look inside? If I never did it I was only waiting for a better moment that didn't come there never could be a better moment than this one" "For No One": "You want her, you need her And yet you don't believe her When she says her love is dead You think she needs you And in her eyes you see nothing No sign of love behind the tears Cried for no one A love that should have lasted years" "Somedays": It's no good asking me what time of day it is, Who won the match or scored the goal. Somedays I look, Somedays I look into your soul. We don't need anybody else To tell us what is real. Inside each one of us is love, And we know how it feels." "Calico Skies", "The Long and Winding Road" and "Beautiful Night" have also special emotinal lyrics for me. And "The End Of The End" has one of the most touching lyrics about death ever.

Favorite Paul lyric: "With the wind in your hair of a thousand places Climb on my back and we'll go for a ride in the sky..."

It's "laces" not "places" (check the Jukebox and here: http://www.metrolyrics.com/jet-lyrics-paul-mccartney.html)) ETA: Sorry I just saw that Boycie addressed this.

You'll find it's laces not places. : Sorry that's ruined it for you.

Yeah, that was a typo. However, I would like it better were it actually "places".

I find the MAF is very strong lyrically. I love Mr. Bellamy, especially the following lines: No one to tell me what to do No one to hold my hand Bellamy's got a lot to do And I hope that you'll understand Nobody here to spoil the view Interfere with my plans Bellamy's got a job to do And he's hoping you'll understand I also think Ever Present past is great. I particularly like the following lines: I've got too much on my mind I think of everything to be discovered I hope there's something to find Searching for the time that has gone so fast The time that I thought would last My ever present past...

Yeah, I've not read a lot of love for the song but its one of my faves on FITD. Along with: Put It There If It Weighs A Ton, That's What The Father Said To His Younger Son. I Don't Care If It Weighs A Ton, As Long As You And I Are Here, Put It There. Long As You And I Are Here, Put It There. Love the opening to Promise To You Girl: Looking through the backyard of my life Time to sweep the fallen leaves away

Here, There and Everywhere is his most beautifully crafted and powerful (lyrics) for me: To lead a better life I need my love to be here Here, making each day of the year Changing my life with a wave of her hand Nobody can deny that there's something there There, running my hands through her hair Both of us thinking how good it can be Someone is speaking, but she doesn't know he's there I want her everywhere And if she's beside me I know I need never care But to love her is to need her Everywhere, knowing that love is to share Each one believing that love never dies Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there I want her everywhere And if she's beside me I know I need never care But to love her is to need her Everywhere, knowing that love is to share Each one believing that love never dies Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there I will be there, and everywhere Here, there and everywhere

And also "Why Don't We Do It In The Road?" has very emotional lyrics, so has "Temporary Secretary". You can really hear in both songs his desperate need for fun on the road and a secretary to do his appointments.

OH, WHERE DID I GO WRONG, MY LOVE? WHAT PETTY CRIME WAS I FOUND GUILTY OF? WHAT BETTER TIME TO FIND A BRAND NEW DAY? OH, WANDERLUST AWAY. Love these from Wanderlust. Don't really know why they resound with me though? The pleading on 'where did I go wrong my love'?

Although it's more clever and "quippy" than anything else, its statement still resonates with me: "I want to enjoy being alive Don't wanna leave before I arrive." It tells me that my best years and accomplishments are ahead of me, and that I should fully live every moment that I am here on this Earth. ("Try Not To Cry" 1999)

"Chaos and Creation" is also a lyrical gem... "Riding to Vanity Fair" is particularly deep: I tell you what I'm going to do I'll try to take my mind off you And now that you don't need my help I'll use the time to think about myself You're not aware Of what you put me through But now the feeling's gone But I don't mind Do what you have to do You don't fool anyone

There are two lines in Little Lamb/Dagragonfly that I find very true ...some time you think the life is hard and this is only one of them... Really help me so much when I'm blue or in troubles...

For me I think the best lyrics Paul ever wrote are the ones in Ecce Cor Meum... probably there are a number of people who don't know them... WOW is what I think, every time I play it... the entire album has great lyrics, but this one is my favourite ❤ Ecce Cor Meum the title song Ecce Cor Meum Behold my heart In the future we may be apart Here in my music I show you my heart Ecce Cor Meum Behold my heart Ecce Cor Meum Behold my heart Ecce Cor Meum Show you my heart Music will show you my heart Truth is only reality Nature truly is what we are Peace is only nature at rest Love is our true nature Love is all Truth and nature bring us peace and love Love is our true nature Love is all Love is our true nature Love is all Peace and love are all we long for Peace and love Truth is only reality Nature truly is what we are Peace and love are always our true nature Love is all Human nature, our true nature Love at peace with nature Human nature, human nature Therefore every one of us Has to find a strong foundation for a love Help us find a strong foundation for a love Although life sometimes is hard we still pull through Without truth false shades nothing else remains Without truth false shades nothing else remains But still we are able to pull through Even though we may have nothing else Nothing ever remains And then our feelings are threatened Unless we can pull through To the opposite side Nothing else remains

Joy to the World - Peace on Earth - We are all ONE

Most powerful lyrics for me; She's Leaving Home: ' Wednesday morning at 5 o'clock as the day begins, silently closing the bedroom door leaving the note that she hoped would say more, she goes downstairs to the kitchen clutching her handkerchief quietly turning the backdoor key stepping outside she is free'. Also Things we said today Another Day Wanderlust Here Today Beautiful Night

Powerful? Perhaps Maybe I'm Amazed or Here Today. But wanted to give props to an amazingly well crafted set of lyrics which can be subtly powerful in their own right... Here There & Everywhere. Some really sweet phrasing and rhyming that occurs. Similar in vein to what he does on I've Just Seen A Face. Subtle rhyming within lines. shes beside me / i know i need Paul could flow a nice set of lyrics. Still can as a matter of fact!

Someone's sleeping through a bad dream, Tomorrow it will be over, For the world will soon be waking to a summer's day. Perhaps my favourite Paul lyrics with one of my all time favourite songs. A real beauty. Quite apt for the forum and certain people at the moment too....

                                            Sir Paul McCartney....Thank You!!
