NEW COLLECTOR'S EDITION

Eeee Cor Blimey:
is there anywhere in the UK actually selling this? Why is it an overseas release only? I know it's on Amazon BUT only via marketplace through someone who bought a load... does nowhere "proper" sell it?
Not that I've been able to find. it's like hens teeth! Ive ordered it from Amazon marketplace and it was dispatched a week ago with an estimated delivery of 6th - 26th November! so I'm guessing its being imported from somewhere! And I'm dead keen to see the DVD because I've been told I'm in it haha
-
Finally showed up on my doorstep this morning! (??) Not sure if it was a late delivery last evening, or an early one (pre-7:30?) today, but I've got it!

I don't think any of the bonus tracks are great, but they're a fine edition to his catalogue. If any of Paul's people read this forum, they'll probably think twice before releasing "Secret Life Of A Party Girl" now, haha! I think what they did on the DVD, with just snippets from his "promo tour" (iHeart Radio, Jimmy Fallon, Times Square, etc.), was sufficient. I can't see sitting through performances of those same two or four songs over and over in multiple settings, all on one DVD, so I think just getting the flavor of them all is fine. The big surprise was that the "Save Us" video is not the "fan contest" one, with all the fans holding signs with the song lyrics. Instead, it's made up of scenes from his Japanese concerts from 2013. I think it's better this way, really. And it's great to be able to see all the music videos, especially "Early Days," in such high quality. One other note: on one of the menu screens, you get a chunk of the video of Paul and his band doing that "impromptu" version of "New" backstage somewhere. I have to say, it's still pretty freaky watching Brian's face in that, and the strange mouth movements he makes, especially on a full-size TV! Was it the lighting, or what??

These were all promo video featurettes released on his youtube page during the album campaign pre/post release from September 2013 - October 2014. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDMVPuy1cqclbv1M_LuMbDq40aEuCSXVJ

hehe of course you'll be in it!!! You, Rachel, and Phil got to GN/CovGar/HMV - you're legends!! I only made it to Covent Garden, but 1 out of 3 isn't bad for me i've given in and ordered it from the amazon seller - prob the same place as you, it says it will come by the 8th of december! As long as it's here the week before xmas, i'm having it as a bday presie (my errr 40th eek *faintswitholdage*!!)

Have to say I'm gutted. I thought the dvd would actually contain proper concert footage, and not just a bunch of montages. I got this via amazon from Canada, and it cost me £14. I'm glad I have it, but I'm also glad I didn't pay some of the prices I saw it advertised, or else I'd have felt properly cheated.

Really enjoyed the Appreciate video with Mr. Roboto!
-
Finally watched the DVD in this collection and I spotted Bob Gannon in the Times Square video (10/10/13)

Bummer, indeed. The DVD was the only reason I'd almost bought this.

Yesterday, I saw Paul's performance in Tokyo. As I said before, i saw him in Montevideo and I couldn't believe how his man can make an almost three hours show, full of vitality, at his 72 years. His performance in Tokyo is really amazing. The more I hear him, more I feel that he is singing much better than three or four years ago. Check out any concert from the 'Up and Coming Tour' and compare with the 'Out There Tour'... this man is a f*****ing miracle.
-
That Tokyo show was quite enhanced in post-production.

Probably. Everybody does it.
-
Just got back from the last 3 Brazilian concerts and Paul's voice was far from his best.

True. But I was only making the point that it's not the fairest example to use when comparing/contrasting Paul McCartney's vocals between that and the Up & Coming Tour.
-
I saw him live in May 2013 and Oct. 2014 and his voice was much better last month! The woman next to me even commented about it before I said anything.
-
I don't know if this is some kind of commentary from Amazon Canada, but their listing for this product, which used to be "New: Collector's Edition" is now "ew: Collector's Edition."
-
...but enough about Wild Life. "ZING!"
-
And apparently the Grammy people have also said "eww" as he has not been nominated for anything, unless you count a nod for Producer of The Year for Paul Epworth, cited for "Queenie Eye," "Save Us," and "Road." At this point, the Album of the Year nominees have not yet been announced, but I'm not too hopeful. "New" is just too old, I guess. Also, the V&M and SOS reissues were released too late to be considered for the Best Historical Album category. Maybe next year! (Just waiting for the withering takedown from Bruce M, who will say I was delusional and demented for expecting nominations in the first place! )
-
The Epworth noms are enough in my book*. It's still a feather in the album's cap. Plus -- Paul McCartney had a clean sweep at last year's Grammys -- five out of five. I'm not greedy. *="Road" is positively epic and deserves an award.

For the record, you're delusional and demented for expecting nominations in the first place!!!
