I was lucky enough to meet Paul twice at book signings he did in NYC a few years back. I also lucked out back in November of 2015 when Paul and Nancy snuck into the Gagosian gallery in NY to hear Mary speak at an interview regarding her exhibit of photos alongside of Linda's photos. When the interview was done, Paul and Nancy made their way to the back of the gallery. I was standing a few feet away from Paul and heard him say to Nancy, "picture time, let's go". He clearly didn't want to take the spotlight away from Mary who was preparing to do a book signing. But I was so close and couldn't resist and actually poked him in the shoulder and said his name at the same time. I stuck my hand out and he gave me a smile and shook my hand. I practically had a nervous breakdown after that. The friend I was with was talking to other people and missed the entire episode. But I knew better than to take a photo or ask for an autograph. Living in NY, I've had several close encounters but I never approach him and just enjoy the fact that I have seen him in the flesh up close.

Millions of fans want to meet him in person. Including me. All I want is a photo taken with him and a hug. Nothing more than that.

Join the crowd! The only sure way is to pay $20,000 to Charity Buzz or even more to the auction one that has a similar name that eludes me at the moment.

Its quite ironic that people see ( I'll use 'see' as opposed to 'meet') Paul every day whether its at the airport,on the tube, in the street, in the local shop, at the school gates or where ever, without having to pay for it. Many many more people get to see and speak to Paul by not trying to, than those who do.

And 90% of those people are not "dyed in the wool" Macca fans like we are. I have pretty much resigned myself that I will never get to meet him (like the OP, all I want is a hug and a pic with him) unless I shell out big bucks, which I've now decided is not worth it. Plus, I don't want to keep paying for soundcheck in the off chance I will get picked to go on stage. (The 2 I went to, nobody got called up during soundcheck or the regular concert!)

Its probably a higher percentage than that !! Many years ago, owing to my job, I got to meet actress Joan 'Miss Marple' Hickson several times in her own home. On one occasion I even had tea and biscuits with her. But it didn't mean anything to me really.I knew who she was but I wasn't a fan. But I was conscious of the fact that she did have many fans who would have given anything to have been in my position right then. Conversely there are a lot people who meet Paul and it doesn't mean anything to them either. Typical eh?

Exactly! One of the surgeons I work with ran into Paul last Thanksgiving time at Barney's in NYC. He took a pic of him, probably just to show me because he knows what a huge fan I am, but he couldn't have cared less.

I don't ask for much. I'll settle for a 2 month vacation with him on a tropical island. He can pick which one.

If we're talking true fantasy here, I'll take circa May 1968 Paul for 2 months on a tropical island, all expenses paid! (Oobu will want circa 1976 Paul!)

Yes, anywhere in that general area! I wouldn't be upset with a few years one way or the other.

Yeah, we need a time machine and a youth serum so we can look like we did when we were in our early 20s! Can you imagine if Paul had been single during his tours in the 70s? He would have had more woman than even he could handle!

I don't know that I'd want to travel back in time to meet him in the 1970s. In this scenario, he's either married to the love of his life or he's a single rock star who you'd need several courses of antibiotics, antivirals and a tetanus shot after meeting.

Lovely story, Maccagirl. Thanks. The way you look at it appeals to me. Many years ago I was lucky to see a Wings show in the wings. Paul and Linda passed me and looked at me when walking on and off stage, but we never exchanged a word. The thrill that I experienced then I can still feel when remembering this very special occasion.
