      HaileyMcComet:

      oobu24:

      He called her Linder.

If followed by a vowel. Brits.

Is that what it was? I'll have to watch for that.

It's a way to keep a word that ends in a vowel from blending into the next word, if it starts with a vowel. Clear enunciation would help, but sometimes that's too much to ask.

I'd always wondered about that. But some Americans do that, as well -- particularly with terms like "idea," etc. Still, if we're not supposed to pronounce the "l" in "salmon" or the "t" in "often," WHY ARE THEY THERE???? [size=7](but I digress)

It's big in New England/New York. Billy Joel singing "Brender and Eddie" is an obvious example. I don't know about salmon - it's probably from another language - but often is from oft, which has to have the T or it's another word entirely.

Always loved the title "Return to Pepperland", it should have been used for something... Sgt. Pepper and the psychedelic era. It creates images in my head. Some talking about LSD and drug culture, but for me it was just a (pop) musical continuation of surrealism, the paintings of Salvador Dali, the poetry of Arthur Rimbaud and André Breton. Dadaism... Pop art. I think it was a very imaginative period in pop music, 1967...

I didn't know Mary's middle name is "Anna" and always thought the title "Lindiana" is a play on words based on the state "Indiana." But with what's going on in that state now with its infamous notorious "religious freedom" law passed there, I'm glad the song's name probably isn't related to Indiana.
