Wedding Song?
-
Hi everyone! I am trying to figure out what song I want to walk down the aisle to at my wedding and was wondering if anyone here has suggestions. We have a solo guitar player who will be playing at our ceremony, so it has to be something he can learn on guitar. My top choice right now is Celebration from Standing Stone....we'd have other more recognizable songs for the rest of the ceremony, but I have always loved Celebration so much, especially as a melody on it's own, like when Paul plays it on the piano. My question is....do you think that would be too difficult or a bad choice for a solo guitar player? I never heard the melody on guitar, so I have no idea. I just wanted to get some of your thoughts because I know a lot of you are musicians....thank you!!

Maybe I'm Amazed (has everything you need)
-
Why Don't We Do It in the Road! Okay, not really serious, but it would certainly be different.
-
How about something real romantic like Helter Skelter.
But seriously what about And I Love Her , Here There & Everwhere or I Will.
-
If I had to pick a song (or two), I'd choose "Here, There and Everywhere" or "And I Love Her".

If you're partial to that melody, I don't see why not. I guess it comes down to the guitarist's proficiency, but it certainly would be beautiful and appropriate. Let us know what you decide!

I love Celebration... I think that's a beautiful choice

Hi there, we got married.... Entrance song: my sweet lord (without krishna) During ceremony we had follow me, love by lennon, and in the end oh happy day
-
In My Life would be my choice of any song for a wedding. Or Here, There and Everywhere.
-
I had Here, There and Everywhere, My Love and I Will played before I came down the aisle (to a traditional song--and after we were married walked back to something I can't remember, but it wasn't a Beatle or Paul song! It was not the traditional newlywed song I know that. I hate that "Da da da da da da da" like on "The Newlywed Game!" This was in 1981.)

I'm suggesting " When I'm 64 " for the cake cutting !

I hard a hard time picking "modern" music for my ceremony and ended up with more traditional songs (no wedding march though
). During the ceremony we honored some of our family that had passed and we picked songs that were special for them. I think the ceremony is so personal that there is no right or wrong, and if there's a song that is special enough to you the musician should be able to figure a way to make it work. We had a very quick ceremony so I focused all my musical attention on cocktail hour and after dinner. First dance was "Maybe I'm Amazed", which I was so excited for, but didn't think about how the band would never compare vocally to Paul so it kind of fell a little flat. The sentiment was there though, and that's all that matters, right?

Nice. I really enjoyed being through this forum post. I remember that on our last anniversary, we hold a party at the best vow renewal location and they played our favorite songs during whole function.

'Warm & Beautiful' - beautiful melody & words. Perfect for a wedding.

Love john lennon that's what we are having at mine or my love by wings

If I ever dallied in the notion of getting married, I'd have to get them to play Run for Your Life, just as a gentle prod. But hey, that's just me. I'm sure it's a beautiful institution!

ps. John's "Love" would go down OK.
