'Wings over America' - Let us hear your memories!
-
Hi, To mark the reissue of 'Wings over America' we have created a new microsite on PaulMcCartney.com allowing fans to leave their memories from the 'Wings over the World' tour or, for that matter, any Wings show they may have seen back in the day. We wanted to give you an exclusive look at the site before we publicise it so if you want to go take a look and leave your memories click HERE: http://po.st/J3ZbSW Looking forwards to hearing what you have to say! All the best! PaulMcCartney.com

Wow! The new WOA site is VERY cool. Makes me wish I'd been to a Wings concert and had a memory to share.
Nicely designed. My only suggestion for MPL: Pressure Amazon to lower the price on the Wings deluxe set to $95. People WANT to buy it but not at the price it is now.

I absolutely love it.
-
I did it, but had to drastically cut down on what I wrote so as not to exceed the character limit!!
-
Beautiful site.

The New York shows are listed as being played at "Madison Square Gardens" - that is not correct, it should be "Madison Square Garden" - it's "Garden" not "Gardens" Same would be if Wings played any shows at the Boston Garden.

I could not post my experience of the concert in the 436 character text field. I have complained on the developers website to expand the field. But here is my post: I was travelling around the U.S. at the time and was in San Francisco on the days of the Wings Over America concerts at Cow Palace. I did not have a ticket and I knew it was sold-out but decided to go to the venue and try and score a ticket outside. I was willing to pay up to $15.00, but no more. So I took a Muni Bus to the Cow Palace. As soon as I stepped off a guy walked up to me and asked me if I needed a ticket. I said "Yes, but how much" He said "$15.00" No lie! So I bought the ticket and headed for the line, by now snaking all the way around the Palace to the back. I was passing the front of the line near the entrance as they were opening the doors and letting people in. Just then someone kicked down a sawhorse at the front of the line. I walked in and was able to get up to the front of the stage at the Festival Seating event. I was on the side of the stage where Paul was. I watched him play from about 10 feet away, and he made eye contact with me a few times. I have seen Sir Paul 5 times since then, but never was so close to Paul again. The whole experience was spontaneous, crazy, and fantastic!

He recorded much of Venus and Mars during this tour, as I recall. "Listen to what the Man Said" was recorded in New Orleans --- correct me if I am wrong. My Aunt told me about it, and I thought how awesome. Paul, his band, wife and kids, in New Orleans, and recording such a great hit. Jeez. I hope I have my facts straight.

Venus and Mars was released in 1975, a year before the Wings Over America Tour. Wings At the Speed of Sound had just been released in March 1976, just before the tour started. You are correct though, that Listen to What the Man Said, and in fact the entire Venus and Mars album, was recorded in New Orleans. It is my favorite Wings album, and those two albums are next two Archive releases!

Is anyone having problems viewing photos from the Tucson show on 6/18/76?

I remember riding to work at my summer job when Listen to What the Man Said reigned supreme on the radio in 1975. The following summer, the tour summer, it was even better with Silly Love Songs and then Let Em In. When WOA came out in late 76, the poster from it greeted those who visited my dorm room.

I visited the HOF last weekend. Cool to see PM's name and signature twice, but there is very little PM stuff in there. George Harrison is in their twice too. Ringo and John are not. It was nice to see the Beatles display, but their was no PM display. Interestingly, the Stones had a huge display and none of them are in there twice. It was a fun day nonetheless. I got to see PM's hand written outline for "Hey Jude", John's Sergeant Pepper costume -- a lot of Hendrix and Elvis stuff. Very little of the Doors. Les Paul practically had his own wing. Only thing from Van Halen was a 1980 drumset. A bit disappointing but overall worth the trip.

well I shall start over again then. sorry. none of that took I guess, what I just posted in that URL there. in 1971when Paul first Put out Another day, I was working at a Resteraunt. Paul came on the radio, and I dropped my tray of food, as I was a waitress, on the floor and customers, when I heard Paul coming on the Stereo system where I worked! Another Day came on, I started singing along the song! its" Paul I said!! he has finally Got His Babies Born! awe! his first Born song Album. he had Put out! changed mu Life 4 ever! as I was into making a lot of music at that time. in short, Lost my Job, so who cared! Paul got his "First Born Babies out!: I was soo Proud! and soo Happy for him! then Wings over America came to town! I beleieve it was his First Really Big Show at that time! he was thrilled to do this, to see how it would go! and it went Splendidly. he was finally getting More Confident too! thanks to Linda and Company! no one can take those Memories away! no matter how hard they tried! I cried for seeing theBeauty of it all! of how Paul's memories are Precious, and so Memorable, Remarkable, and so Inspiring, it fired up my inspirations to go forth and pay it forward to those who need to be loved. I do it for the Pure Joy and Pleasure it brings to me! that is what Paul's Music has done for Me and Humanity! love, peace and hugs to everyone! isn't it great that A job like this for Paul is so much Fun! smiles all round! never look down, look up! and see the Beauty, around you all! thank you Paul for it all!

My brother took me to the shows. It was the first time I saw Paul live. The first show I just stared at the stage, the rest of the shows (I saw the whole run in MSG) I was dancing and singing. It was a great memory. Especially since my brother wasn't all that nice to me, but he knew seeing Paul would make me so happy.

making Memories with Paul, is what this is all about! memories to post in the Beauty of your heart and mind. and even take a photo as well. Paul is so very kind I hope you have many more Memories to come, of Paul and his Loving and giving ways, he gives at his concerts every time! he gives out 300% and Plus more. I know how you felt looking at the stage! I did that in 1964!! I just sat in amazement! I went into the "PAUL ZONE"" could not move for days! kept the grass the Beatles walked on as well! the Paul Zone is the best place to be, of course you don't have any responsibilities, to take care of, you will forget all of that in the Paul zone! when you get ZAPPED!!! it is hard to come back to Reality! been their! I fell into the street just looking at Paul, pass me by in the LIMO! I WAS ZAPPED!! 4 EVeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrr

I saw Wings Over America at McNichols Arena in Denver, Colorado on 7 June 1976. I was 12 years old but my older sister and brother took me from Albuquerque to see the show. It was brilliant! I had never been in an arena like that, and when Paul came on stage, the whole place erupted! For a little over two hours he and the band rocked the place. I remember him saying "Good evening! Welcome to Denver! How does it feel to live a mile high?" The whole event was amazing and left quite an impression. Two years later I HAD to buy a Rickenbacker bass! And I did!

I only have memories of hearing the album for the first time in the early 80s, I still consider it my favorite live album ever, "Back in the US/World" and the others have great music and performances but there is an aura to these recordings. He is conquering America all over again.
