Speechless. Just hours ago I was playing a selection of her songs including the gorgeous studio demo (with Paul and George Martin) of Step Inside Love. And my buddy (who texted me the news) said he too was listening to Cilla earlier today! Paul and Ringo will be very saddened. She was huge in UK and Australia. Thanks Cilla.

Paul has paid the following tribute today: "Such a shock to hear about Cilla's passing,She was a lovely girl who infected everyone with her great spirit. "From first meeting her as a cloak room girl at the Cavern in Liverpool, to seeing her many times since, she always had a fun-loving dignity that made her a great pleasure to be around."

I liked her. Sad news today - ironically i was in liverpool today, walked down mathew street, and also ended up up opposite where the iron door club was (not intentionally, not been up that street for a few years, was going to a shop opposite)... both big places in Cilla's start. Yet when we set off home i heard the news on the radio. -

Sadly the Cilla ep with Ringo is lost as I understand it. Only audio survives of that episode. Damn@!!!

Things end up in the hands of collectors...like the 8mm taken from the telly in 68, of John and Paul on the Tonight Show. That surfaces...another person has audio taped from the telly...synched up - youtube - Bob's yer uncle!!!
